A well-deserved team outing for the supporting departments of HoSt Group's headquarters in Enschede, the Netherlands and it was a great success!

Over the past year, our staff departments have grown significantly. With so many new faces and expanding teams, we wanted to create a moment to truly connect and strengthen collaboration across departments.

So for the very first time, yesterday, the staff teams at HoSt Group's headquarters in Enschede came together for a day that was all about connection, fun and stepping outside the usual office walls.

We laced up our shoes for a 5.5 km hike through the outdoors, navigating with digital compasses and snapping team moments on Polaroid cameras along the way. The perfect mix of adventure and laughter, with the Dutch weather surprisingly on our side.

The day ended the best way possible: around the barbecue, good food, and even better company.

The UK and Ireland have been part of HoSt's story for over a decade.

In Spilsby, England, our biogas plant has been running for 13 years, processing 24,000 tonnes of corn and grass annually and delivering 1,200 kWe of renewable electricity. In Ilkestion, our facility processes up to 40,000 tonnes of liquid and green waste, with biomethane injected directly into the gas grid under the UK's Green Gas Levy strategy.

In Ireland, we are currently on-site realising one of the country's new biogas facilities, turning up to 60,000 tonnes of dairy sludge and food waste into nearly 6,000,000 Nm³ of biomethane per year.

And there is more to come from England. We will be sharing details on a new biogas project shortly.

Built to Last: Since 2017, our wood-fired CHP plant near Riga has turned local pruning waste into heat and electricity for the district network. Enough for around 15,000 households.

A 20 MWt water tube steam boiler (52 bar, 450°C) and a 4.5 MWe steam turbine do the work, while a flue gas condenser recovers roughly 25% more heat from the same wood. The result is over 102% efficiency, 8,200 operating hours a year, and 94% availability.

Nine years on, it still does exactly what it was built to do.

Following up on our exciting €26 million European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) financing announcement last Friday, we wanted to share a glimpse of the journey ahead.

Take a look at the photos below to see the Lēdurga biogas site in its current state. By the end of 2027 / early 2028, this location will look completely different as it is transformed into one of Latvia’s largest and most advanced biomethane facilities.

Rather than starting from scratch, we are breathing new life into an existing infrastructure. As Irina Krasta, Managing Director of HoSt Group Latvia, explains:

"Rebuilding an existing biogas site from the ground up allows us to maximize our environmental impact. We are deeply committed to advancing Latvia’s vision for a secure, independent renewable energy system."

Through our Next Biogas initiative, we will be overhauling this site with our proprietary biogas plant technology, membrane biogas upgrading and CO₂ liquefaction technology.

A milestone agreement has been secured by HoSt Group to acquire a biogas plant in Lēdurga, Latvia, and rebuild it into a biomethane facility.

Backed by a €26 million loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) for HoSt Group’s Next Biogas project, the agreement was officially signed today, June 5th, during the EBRD 2026 Annual Meeting in Riga.

This strategic investment provides direct momentum for both the European and the regional energy transition by deploying advanced renewable gas technology to replace fossil fuels and build a secure, independent energy system.

Seeing the agreement as a major catalyst for the company's long-term vision, HoSt Group CFO Arthur Vlaanderen highlighted:

“On top of our own investments, this €26 million financing from the EBRD directly accelerates HoSt Group's strategy to develop, own, and operate critical green energy infrastructure. This sustainable investment proves the strong commercial viability of biomethane projects and underscores our shared drive to power the energy transition. By transforming the plant into one of Latvia's largest biomethane facilities, we are anchoring circular energy production in the region and making a tangible contribution to Europe's energy security."

What a day on the pitch! ⚽

Yesterday, HoSt finished second at the Studenten Bedrijven Toernooi hosted by EFC PW 1885. Throughout the group stage, the Hardwerkende Onverslaanbare Sterren Team was unbeatable with 4 wins and just 1 draw. We faced Zeton in the final, who proved too strong on the day, and lost 0-2. Disappointing, but still a result to be incredibly proud of!

An honorable mention to our standout players: Jelle with an impressive 7 goals throughout the tournament (our Peter Crouch), Luppie for his perfectly timed substitutions (our Pep Guardiola), and Hidde for dominating the midfield and leaving defenders in his wake (our Frenkie de Jong).
