When the first notes of Bowie’s Space Oddity filled the room, you could feel it. This week’s Bits&Chips 2025 Event in Eindhoven was going to spark fresh ideas, sharp discussions, and the kind of conversations that make you sit up a little straighter. 🎉
This exhibition and conference dove into the challenges of 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐱 𝐬𝐨𝐟𝐭𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐧 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡-𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡, and 𝐬𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞, the perfect backdrop for exploring where technology is heading.
And for 𝐍𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐡𝐛𝐥𝐚𝐡, this year was something special.
We were there as an official partner, soaking up the atmosphere and supporting speakers as they stepped into the spotlight.
Our brilliant International Moderator & Communication Trainer Sophia Gruner set the tone from the start. As the event host, she opened the day with her signature mix of courage, curiosity, and a touch of Bowie-inspired boldness. She invited the audience to consider:
“𝐀𝐫𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐫𝐲, 𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐲𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐞𝐫, 𝐨𝐫 𝐚 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐫?”
Behind the scenes, our coaching team was hard at work.
✨ Howard Dean Lettinga Jr. had the honor of coaching the two keynote speakers:
Tanja E.J. Vos, professor of software engineering at the Open University of the Netherlands and the Universitat Politècnica de València. Her keynote challenged us to rethink software testing. She leads the Software Testing group across both institutions, developing advanced technologies.
𝐁𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐊𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫, Head of Product Systems Engineering, ZEISS Group, delivered the closing keynote: “On multicultural systems engineering.”
With 25 years of deep involvement in the ASML–ZEISS partnership on EUV lithography. His stories about Dutch–German collaboration were insightful, funny, and beautifully human.
His final piece of wisdom? “𝐉𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐞.”
✨ Meanwhile Becky Baker coached Pepijn Noltes from Thales Nederland, who offered a rare glimpse behind the closed doors of the defense world.
Huge thanks to Nieke Roos and the entire Bits & Chips team at Techwatch for another fantastic day full of learning, curiosity and connection.
