Leakage from the nozzle disrupted product flow. Initial assessments indicated a potential issue with the deflector plate. However, upon bundle inspection, the problem proved to be more severe than anticipated. The pipe plate was being eaten away, among other issues, necessitating the development of a comprehensive restoration plan.

Key actions taken:

- Repaired the first row of tubes
- Welded the corroded pipe plate
- Reinstalled the tubes, including the buffel plate
- Conducted rigorous testing
- Restored the ROM and nozzle

This project exemplified effective collaboration with our valued customer, spanning various organizational levels. We explored innovative ways to extend the heat exchanger's lifespan, showcasing the flexibility of all involved parties, including our transportation service and skilled painters.

In the face of unexpected challenges, HES demonstrated unrivaled expertise and a commitment to finding solutions in close collaboration with the client.

Our valued customer has taken a proactive step towards ensuring safer marine operations. They have decided to equip their 10", 12", and 16" Marine Loading Arms (MLA) with an Emergency Release Coupling (ERC). This addition prevents any unfortunate product spills caused by unexpected ship movement during loading operations. ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ’ฅ Alongside the ERC installations, several other modifications have been made in order to cope with the additional loads on the MLA.
This project will be carried out by JLS and JMEC.

The scope for JMEC consisted of:

๐Ÿ” Conducting 3D scanning of the existing MLA's.
๐Ÿ’ช Performing strength calculations to ensure the MLA's can withstand varying loading conditions such as stored (storm), maneuvering, operating, and ERC activated states, several extreme positions in the working envelope of the arm.
โš–๏ธ Balancing the loading arm in the new configuration by adjusting existing counterweights and/or adding additional ones.
โš™๏ธ Analyzing stress on pipes and structural components of the loading arm.
โš›๏ธ Evaluating the swivels for the additional loads.
๐Ÿ“‹ Generating specifications for necessary modifications and reinforcements to accommodate the ERC while ensuring the loading arm remains within the working envelope.
