"The Brilliant Biograph", a project we have been working on for Eye Filmmuseum, is a finalist for the Focal Award this year in the restoration category.
The "live" ceremony is June 24 online.

In the past 1,5 year, the Österreichisches Filmmuseum worked together with Haghefilm Digitaal to scan in 2K all 76 films made by the Austrian avant-garde filmmaker Ernst Schmidt jr.

Parijsche Mode is a collection of 4 reels of stencilled fashion compilation films from the 1910s and 1920ies. For Eye Filmmuseum we recently preserved the first of those nitrate film treasures.

In the archives of the Cinémathèque française, some unused takes for Louis Beñuel's scandal film L'Age d'Or (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/L%27Age_d%27Or) from 1930 have been discovered. The 35 mm nitrate film rolls with the shots, which were in very poor condition, were cleaned, repaired and digitized frame by frame by Haghefilm Digitaal.
The outtakes can now be seen on "Henri" the VOD channel of the Cinemathèque française.
