moonvalley.me

moonvalley.me By athletes. For everyone. Moonvalley is a sports nutrition brand with its roots in Måndalen, Norway. Earth. Plant. Food - It really is as simple as that.

Organic, plant based and nutritionally balanced products with extraordinary delicious flavours and a community of fans all over the world. Moonvalley was founded in 2018 by three Swedish professional trail runners: Emelie Forsberg, Ida Nilsson and Mimmi Kotka. Our founders truly believe that real sports nutrition should never need to taste like it came out of a science lab. Neither do they believe

that you should need to have an academic degree in nutritional science to understand the list of ingredients (although Mimmi actually has one of those…). The Moonvalley philosophy is simple – to create and offer amazing products that we want to eat ourselves. Finding exactly the right ingredients is our main focus and using only real organic, plant based ingredients in our products is key. We want to spread the word that real, organic, plant-based foods can give us all the energy and nutrition we need to live a healthy life – and that it can taste just as amazing as it is. At Moonvalley we like keeping it real – real food, really tasty and really nutritious.

With 3 little ones, one is 1 yo and roaming around at home with us, our schedules are tight as athletes and entrepreneurs aswell as having energy for the family.
One thing I never skip these days is to refill straight after training. I just can't run low on energy, and our post workout mix is my treat and go to.

In one serving I get 13 g of protein and 30 g carbs- perfect as a refill and crucial when I don't know if I can est a proper meal close by.

We use plant based protein- Oat and pea protein make a perfect nutritional match because they are complementary. Peas are rich in the amino acid lysine but low in methionine, while oats are high in methionine but lower in lysine. Combining them yields a complete amino acid profile, creating a balanced muscle-building protein source.

Nature can teach us many things, and I find there’s something deeply harmonious about staying in tune with the seasons. One of the greatest lessons the seasons have taught me is that everything changes. Each season stays for a while, then gives way to the next. Rather than resisting it or wishing it away, we’re better off learning to work with it, adapt to it, and prepare for what comes next.

Most of us love the energy and renewal that spring brings, and hopefully we can carry some of that energy with us into the less favourable seasons too.

Waffles is a favourite here at home, and I love to add nutritious ingredients for my little ones.
Here's a favourite recipe of ours! It's 6-7 waffles in this recipe.
We often eat some "salty ones with cheese/cottage cheese/sallad, then finish with a sweet treat. Little Lo's favourite is brown cheese and blueberries 🫐

Monday again and catching up on e-mails and to do things. Always better with a cup of coffee and a bar.

I wish you a good week and at least one good "fika"!

Quick energy on the go.

My go to is a scope of post workout mix or the protein powder, shake in a jar and ready for later.

Heading out the door and don't know how long I will be out, always a bar in the pocket. 😊

I say this every year. Could we please have two Mays?

Breakfast and coffee on the porch in the morning sun.
Skiing cold powder high up in the mountains.
Running on dry trails and forest roads surrounded by bright green leaves, forest violets, wood anemones and bird song.

I can take one week of grey November for one of these days. 😊

I say this every year, could we please have two Mays in a year?

Breakfast and coffee on the porch in the morning sun.
Skiing cold powder high up in the mountains.
Running on dry trails and forest roads surrounded by new bright green leaves on the trees, wood anemones, forest violets and bird songs.

One of these days equals out one grey November week!

Protein is getting a lot of attention right now, and for good reason.

It is an essential macronutrient that helps build and repair tissues, supports muscle maintenance, and plays a role in many of the body’s enzymes and hormones. It is also very satiating, which means it helps you feel full and satisfied after meals.

Research suggests that protein needs may be slightly higher than older general recommendations, especially for active people. That said, most people already meet their protein needs through a regular diet, and true deficiency is rare.

More protein is not always better. Once your body has what it needs, extra amino acids are either used for energy or stored, depending on your overall energy balance.

If you follow a plant based diet, it can take a bit more planning to reach optimal intake, since plant foods are often less protein dense. In those cases, plant based protein options can be a helpful way to support intake.

Protein products can simply be a convenient way to help you get there in a busy everyday life.🌱❤

A week of breakfast, a week of fueling the body right.🫶

Breakfast is your first meal of the day and it sets the tone for everything ahead. A balanced breakfast gives your body the energy it needs, supports focus, and helps keep your metabolism active.

It is also your chance to truly nourish your body by starting the morning with wholesome foods like fruits, protein, whole grains, and healthy fats that keep you satisfied and energized.

Our protein blend is perfect for scooping into a nourishing bowl or porridge, combined with your favourite fruits, nuts, bread, or nut butter.

You choose! Just let breakfast be the start your body deserves.

Taking a fika outside is a favourite ❤️
Picking and eating fresh wild leaves is something I treasure, and now it's the perfect time to pick nettles. It's full of vitamins as well as Iron and silicon.
For my soup I use;
1.5 liter rinsed tiny nettles
3 dl spinach
Onion and garlic
Salt& pepper
0.8 liter water
Cream of preference
Boil, mix and add the cream
Enjoy 😋
