OSM Thome Officers Conference 2026: Strengthening Connections and Growing Together
At the end of July 2026, Delhi became the meeting point for over 40 OSM THOME sailing officers from India and Myanmar, along with the management team, for the OSM THOME Officers Conference 2026, organized by the Maritime Leaders Academy.
As a prelude to the conference, a Leadership Training was conducted to equip seafarers with the skills to lead with confidence, handle operational challenges, and inspire a strong culture of safety and teamwork at sea.
Over two interactive days, the conference provided a valuable platform for open dialogue, collaboration, and stronger engagement between seafarers and shore-based management. It was designed to encourage transparent discussions, share organizational updates, and address questions and concerns from both sides of the table. Officers came in expecting to be heard and to gain clarity on key topics, and through candid, constructive conversations, those expectations were met with overwhelmingly positive feedback.
The conference was led by Arun Mehta and Prakash Ranga, supported by other global and local leaders, whose guidance helped shape meaningful and productive discussions throughout the event.
Key discussions covered global geopolitical developments and security measures, crewing-related matters, operational challenges and updates, and the growing importance of mental wellbeing. Participants exchanged experiences, shared insights, and contributed to solution-oriented conversations that strengthened mutual understanding and trust.
Recognizing the vital role families play in a seafarer's journey, officers' family members were also invited to join dedicated activities and wellbeing-focused sessions, reinforcing OSM THOME's commitment to supporting not just its seafarers, but the families behind them too.
Adding to the experience was the vibrant "Social Dinner โ A Summer Fever Sailor Style," bringing officers, families, and management together for an evening of meaningful connections and stronger bonds across the OSMTHOME community.
More than just a professional gathering, the OSMTHOME Officers Conference 2026 was a celebration of our people, our shared values, and our commitment to open communication.
