5 years ago, I was creating volume sets using premade fans⌠and I remember the noise.
âYouâre not a real lash tech.â
âAnybody can do thatâeven a baby.â
âIf youâre not making handmade fans, you shouldnât be in this industry.â
And for a moment, I questioned myself.
But hereâs the truth no one talks about enough đđ˝
I didnât choose premades because it was âeasy.â
I chose them because I was intentional.
At that stage in my journey, I was still growingâand I knew there were foundational skills that mattered more than anything else. Skills that would define the kind of lash artist I would become. Skills I now pass on to every student who trusts me as their mentor.
⨠I focused on MASTERING isolationâbecause without proper isolation, nothing else matters.
⨠I obsessed over placement and retentionâbecause beautiful lashes mean nothing if they donât last.
⨠I studied inner and outer corner techniquesâbecause thatâs where true artistry shows.
⨠I gave 100% attention to every clientâlearning their eye shape, their natural lashes, their needs.
⨠And I made sure every single set that left my bed was beautifulâbecause consistency builds trust.
To me, premade fans werenât a shortcut⌠they were a tool.
A tool that gave me the space to refine what truly matters.
And now?
The same industry that once criticized it⌠promotes it.
Funny how that works.
But beyond trends, thereâs something even more important that we donât talk about enough:
đ Sustainability as a lash artist.
Using premades can reduce strain on your hands, wrists, and fingersâhelping prevent long-term injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome⌠something that can literally end a lash career.
This industry is not just about how good your sets look today.
Itâs about how long you can keep doing what you love.
So this is for every lash tech who has ever been judged for doing things differently:
Keep going.
Keep learning.
Keep trusting your process.
Because growth doesnât come from following noiseâit comes from understanding your purpose.
And if youâre choosing to protect your body while building your craft?
Thatâs not weakness. Thatâs wisdom. đ¤
