Val FoU har sine hovedarbeidsområder innen prosjektledelse, utvikling innenfor biologiske og teknologiske områder samt utdanning knyttet til havbruk- og landbruksnæringen. FoU-aktiviteten ved Val VGS ble fra og med 1. januar 2013 utskilt og videreført i et eget selskap, Val FoU AS. Val FoU AS har som mål å levere FoU-tjenester av høy kvalitet som bidrar til økt verdiskaping i sjømat- og landbruksn
æringen, og skal samtidig bygge opp under Val VGS sin kjernevirksomhet gjennom tett og målrettet samarbeid. Val FoU AS fremmer kunnskapsutvikling og -formidling til regionalt næringsliv i Ytre Namdal spesielt, og Norge generelt gjennom å:
- Utvikle et faglig aktivt og naturlig kompetansesenter for FoU-aktivitet innenfor havbruk- og landbruksnæringen i Ytre Namdal
- Delta i prosjekter innenfor teknologiske og biologiske områder
- Samarbeide med både norske og utenlandske kunnskaps- og utviklingsmiljøer
- Arbeide aktivt med kunnskapsutvikling og kompetansebygging i – og for oppdragsgivere og samarbeidspartnere
- Involvere elever ved Val VGS i praktisk prosjektgjennomføring
Val upper secondary school has conducted different research and development activities since the early '80s. This was organized within a department underlying the ordinary operations of the upper secondary school, but as of January 1st, 2013 these projects were advanced to its own company, Val R&D. Val R&D’s purpose is to deliver services within research and development that will contribute to increased economic growth within the seafood- and agriculture industry, as well as enhance the core values of the school by having the two work hand in hand. Val R&D promotes educational development and dissemination to a regional field in Ytre Namdal specifically, and Norway generally through:
- Developing an educationally active and natural focal point for R&D activities within the aquaculture and agriculture industry in Ytre Namdal
- Participating in projects within technological and biological fields
- Cooperating with both Norwegian and international educational and developmental arrangements
- Working actively with developing knowledge and competence for clients and collaborators
- Involving students at Val in projects by practical implementations
