NEWS: Norplan Tanzania was awarded a framework agreement for Statoil`s oil and gas projects in Tanzania
In 2012, Statoil, a leading Norwegian energy company in oil and gas production, and its partner ExxonMobil made significant gas discoveries in Block 2 offshore Tanzania. Block 2 covers an area of approximately 5,500 square meters and lies in water depths between 1,500 to 3,000 meters. The discoveries are an important step towards a possible natural gas development in Tanzania.
Norplan Tanzania was, as one of only two local engineering companies, awarded a framework agreement with Statoil Tanzania for their oil and gas projects in Tanzania. The contract is for a period of 3 years, with an additional 2x2-year extension option.
The scope of work covers technical engineering and project management services and includes geotechnical investigations, engineering, regulatory clarifications, HSE and construction management.
“We are delighted at this opportunity to provide technical expertise to the fast growing oil and gas markets in East-Africa.” commented Tom Odegaard, Chairman of Norplan Tanzania.
Norplan Tanzania has already been awarded several contracts under the framework agreement and will receive technical support from Norplan partner and owner Multiconsult.
