Peppers are growing in California and LNC is part of the story.
We're excited to share images from our latest pilot in California, where Desert Control's Liquid Natural Clay technology is being trialed on pepper crops. Row after row of healthy young plants, drip irrigation in place, and LNC working beneath the surface to improve soil structure and water retention.
This is what it looks like when climate-smart agriculture meets real farm operations.
LNC doesn't replace water it makes every drop count more. By binding naturally into sandy or degraded soils, it reduces water loss and helps roots access nutrients more efficiently. Less irrigation needed. Stronger, more resilient crops.

Sandy, compacted, water-repellent soil doesn't just hurt yields. It accelerates runoff, prevents carbon storage, and compounds drought stress across the entire agricultural system.
Restoring soil water retention is one of the most direct, scalable interventions available no extraction, no synthetic inputs, no side effects.
On World Environment Day, this is the work we show up for.

A year on, the results speak from the field.

We revisited Woodland Hills Country Club nearly a year after applying Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) to their turf and sat down with the course superintendent to hear how it's held up.

In his words: notable water savings, healthier fairways through the winter, and kikuyu turf that stayed active rather than going dormant through the heat — which he attributes to LNC helping the soil retain moisture and warmth.

"We're stewards of the land," he told us — and for his team, water conservation and turf quality go hand in hand.

Desert Control congratulates the commercial growers who successfully applied to the Agriculture, Soil Health and Water Efficiency Innovation Pilot Program with the Arizona Department of Agriculture. The aim of this program is to fund projects that implement and collect data for water-focused soil health innovations in agriculture. Desert Control is honored to be supporting three commercial grower projects that have been notified of initial grant awards. We look forward to sharing details as the projects materialize later in 2026 subject to growing season schedules. Data for these important innovation pilots will be shared with the Arizona Department Agriculture over the course of the two-year program.

We also extend our sincere appreciation to the review committee and Department of Agriculture staff that processed more than 50 applications to the program. This group made difficult decisions to approve only select projects to provide diversity of pilots across different crops and locations of the state.

🍇 In the field: California's Central Valley

On March 31, our team was on the ground at a table grape vineyard in Bakersfield, California applying Liquid Natural Clay (LNC) on a high-value, water-intensive crop in one of the most water-stressed growing regions in the world.

Five weeks on, early field observations are showing a noticeable difference in canopy size in the treated area an encouraging visual response as we continue monitoring through the season.

Table grapes demand a lot of water. LNC works by transforming sandy soils into productive root zones that hold water and nutrients where roots can actually reach them helping growers do more with less.

Small change in the soil. Significant change in what the season can deliver.

His work at Bayer Crop Science, Verdesian Life Sciences, and Cytozyme Laboratories has taken technologies from the lab to commercial reality, across markets and geographies.

At Desert Control, he takes the helm of a research programme focused on one of the most differentiated technologies in soil science today Liquid Natural Clay. His mandate is clear: build the peer-reviewed evidence base, sharpen the field trials, and expand the application of LNC across the American Southwest and beyond.
