ROVs are built to be powerful enough to cover long distances, strong enough to handle heavy tooling 🦾

But on one project, the job called for something different. An item had been lost inside a pipeline, and retrieving it meant flying a vehicle through a space that a standard ROV could not fit. The task needed something small enough to navigate the pipe interior and still powerful enough to grab the object and pull it back out.

That is the kind of problem Stinger Technology's ROVs are built to solve. Rather than adapting the job to the platform, we adapt the platform to the job, scaling size and power to match the exact operational constraint in front of us.

It is a small example, but it reflects how we approach every project: understand the actual problem first, then build the tool that fits it 🎯

Bjarte Langeland (our CEO), Hanne Hornseth (our CCO) and Truls Munch-Ellingsen (our CTO) are heading to Washington, D.C. 🛫

As part of Stinger Technology's involvement in the LINC 2026/27 cohort, they have been invited to attend AUSA Week, one of the defense sector's most significant gatherings in the United States 🇺🇸

The week includes presentations, B2B and B2G meetings, and direct engagement with allied governments, armed forces, and industry partners, building on the connections made at the LINC kickoff in Lillestrøm in August.

We are honored to be included, and it reflects the position Stinger Technology is building in the defense and maritime security ecosystem.

We look forward to representing Norwegian subsea technology at AUSA Week.

Five years ago, Torgrim Skaustein joined Stinger Technology as Chief Operating Officer. The company had seven employees at the time, and today it has 25 🚀

His path here wasn't a straight line from offshore to offshore. Torgrim spent 13 years keeping aircraft engines running, applying a LEAN mindset that made him and his team finalists for the Pratt & Whitney Leadership Award for Innovative Projects, two years running. That same discipline carried into subsea, where he took on major projects and direct customer responsibility at Oceaneering and was named Project Manager of the Year, Oceaneering Worldwide, in 2019.

As COO, Torgrim brings that same focus to Stinger: solid operations, and a working environment people actually want to be part of 🙌

"I enjoy solving complex technical challenges at Stinger, exploring operations that have never been done before with mini ROVs," he says. "It's exciting being part of building a company from the ground up into a solid market competitor."

Outside the office, he's usually planning his next trip, out on a snowboard, on a basketball court, fixing a car, or trying to impress his wife with his carpentry skills 🛫🎿🏀🛠️🪑

Stinger Technology was selected to join the LINC 2026/27 cohort, and we're honored to be part of it!

LINC (Launchpad for Innovative Norwegian Companies) is a program built to help Norwegian technology companies expand into the U.S. and allied defense markets, run by FFI, Innovation Norway, and NADIC. Stinger Technology is one of eight Norwegian companies selected for this cohort 🤝

In August, we attended the official program kickoff in Lillestrøm alongside government representatives, service providers, and industry stakeholders from Norway and the United States. There, our CEO, Bjarte Langeland, presented our vision for maritime autonomy and security and connected with defense stakeholders and fellow cohort companies. We have also been paired with U.S.-based maritime and defense advisory firm Ness Sea, which will support our market access and business development throughout the program. 🇺🇸

Built on more than two decades of operational experience, Stinger Technology is focused on technology that strengthens situational awareness, protects critical infrastructure, and advances autonomous underwater operations. The U.S. market has growing demand for autonomous and unmanned capability across naval and coastal operations, and LINC gives us a structured path to build relationships with customers, partners, and defense end users there.

Over the coming months, we will take part in workshops, industry events, and business development activities across the United States.

Aboard the M/F Forsand at this year's ONS, we had great conversations with industry partners, clients, suppliers, and even people we'd only met online before. Thank you to everyone who came by for a chat about where subsea robotics is headed next. Sharing the deck with Blue Logic and a number of other industry players made for a strong three days in Stavanger harbor ⛴️

This summer, our ROV control system had an extra set of hands, and eyes, on it. One of our summer interns, Aditya Borah, spent the season deep in microcontroller programming and electronics, soldering, coding, bench testing, and finally watching it all run underwater on the ROV. That moment when the system you built on a workbench actually works in the water is one of the best parts of this job, and we were glad to see him experience it 🙌

Supporting the next generation of subsea talent matters to us, not as a talking point, but because that's how good engineers get made. Thanks for a great summer, Aditya, and good luck with what's next 🚀
