DP FMEA Workshop with CBO (Companhia Brasileira de Offshore)
On April 15 Sebastian do Brasil held a workshop about DP FMEA in Rio de Janeiro. Bassa and Glauber gave presentations and this inspired to great discussions and real engagement by the participants. Thank you to all participants for a great event.

After an intense week in Houston at the MTS DP conference and following events after, one very busy week in Rio de Janeiro with business meetings and more. Today is the first day to relax. NOT.

Change of Management at Sebastian AS
Marius Engeseth Leine is appointed CEO in Sebastian AS from 1st September. Founder and CEO for 30 years, Johannes Kristian Bjøringsøy, commonly known as “Bassa” around the world, will continue in a consultancy role for the company.

- The goal when founding Sebastian AS was to create a sustainable company that would make a difference in the industry. I am proud to be able to say that this goal has been achieved, states the former CEO. - However, we are now facing significant technological challenges, especially within areas as blockchain technology, artificial intelligence, autonomous ships, cyber security, and much more. Therefore, I believe it is time for a new generation to take over, someone who better understands the future and can guide Sebastian safely forward, says Bassa enthusiastically, giving Marius a firm handshake.

The new CEO, Marius Engeseth Leine, has despite his young age, more than 18 years of experience in the industry, as ship engineer and in the shipyard industry, and has been almost 5 years at Sebastian in other roles. The company has 11 employees today.
- And we intend to grow! Sebastian has an ambitious goal of multiplying the number of employees within five years, states the new CEO.

Sebastian AS prepares for growth
Sebastian AS, a consultancy based in Ulsteinvik, Norway, specializing in maritime and offshore services, is gearing up for growth. The company has taken a significant step by adding two highly competent members to its board, Gunnar Breivik (66) and Hans Cato Haddal (57).

The company’s CEO, Johannes Kristian Bjøringsøy, commonly known as Bassa, states that Sebastian aims for growth and thus seeks to strengthen its board with resources that can elevate the company to new heights.

The chairman of the board, Oddvar Saunes, has been instrumental in this development, leveraging his extensive network. He has been pivotal in the company’s growth since 2009.
The addition of Breivik and Haddal is celebrated, with the belief that their diverse expertise and extensive business experience will help Sebastian achieve its ambitious goal of expanding from 10 to approximately 40 employees within five years.

Mr Breivik boasts a remarkable track record in growing companies. An NTNU-educated engineer, he has held various management positions in Hydro and Equinor, including OIM Offshore Installation Manager, HSE corporate director, and head of logistics.

Mr Haddal, a trained lawyer, has served as a municipal chief executive, attorney, and official in the Directorate of Fisheries. In recent years, he has focused on launching Bue Salmon AS, a pioneering land-based salmon farming venture in Sunnfjord. His experience spans public sector governance and entrepreneurship in innovative technology. He has worked extensively with regulatory matters and risk management and has governance experience from ocean management and as an election observer in former Soviet states for the OSCE.

Bassa, eagerly looking forward to collaborating with these two talented individuals and shaping strategies and action plans to achieve Sebastian’s new ambitious goals.

“We are already well underway with our work, and I can also mention that Brazil is an exciting market for us. After years of targeted effort, we have established a strong foothold and are heavily involved with local shipping owners and oil companies there,” concludes Bjøringsøy proudly.

Songa Equinox is on contract :-)
This is a major milestone for Songa Offshore. This purpose built Drilling rig is setting new standards for DP operations with the following three “Firsts”:
- First DP-rig operating on the Norwegian Continental Shelf with closed bus and even closed ring, meeting all strictest requirements in DP class notation DYNPOS-AUTRO by DNV GL.
- First DP-rig with an fully accepted DP-operation with worst-case-single-failure-1 operation mode, that is loss of maximum one out thruster after any single failure even though only three redundancy groups are defined.
- First DP-rig to have a unique rig specific DP training program from Sebastian AS for developing a good DP culture on board.
Sebastian AS has contributed to all these and we are very proud to have contributed in this achievement.
