*** History of Irrigation***
1. The government of Nepal has long been dedicated to investing in the growth and enhancement of irrigation infrastructure across the country. This commitment has persisted for generations, with farmers taking initiative in this endeavor.
2. The serious irrigation development started by the government of Nepal with the initiation of the Chandra Canal construction in 1979 B.S.
3. Subsequently, in 1985, water distribution commenced from Chandranahar, leading to the widespread adoption of modern irrigation technology throughout the country.
4. Around the year 2000, Judh Canal was constructed in Sarlahi, Jagdishpur Dam in Kapilvastu, and Pardi Dam in Pokhara was started.
5. Following the democratic shift in 2007, the production of a skilled domestic workforce began, and in 2009, the leadership role of the canal department was formally established.
6. After the implementation of the first five-year plan in the year 2013, irrigation development was started in a planned manner from the government.

Let us do something to contribute to the protection of the environment.
Let us electrify our transportation system, replacing fossil fuel-based vehicles with electric vehicles, electric trains, cable cars, ropeways, metro rails, etc.
The residents of Kathmandu Valley have the right to breathe in clean air. So, let us switch over to electric buses, metro rails… etc.
Let us ensure that our rivers are so clean that you can drink water directly from the river.
Let us do something to avoid the import of petrol, diesel, and coal for our transport and industries.
Let us ensure that there is not even a single patch of land in the country, left barren and degraded.
Let us protect our forests, in such a way that it becomes a means of livelihood for local people, an ideal habitat for wild animals and birds and tourists flock to Nepal to enjoy the pristine environment.
Let us show the world that it is indeed possible to strike a balance between nature conservation, economic development, and environmental protection.
