DeKMIS envisions transforming development practices in Nepal and elsewhere by advancing development into Inclusive Knowledge Age through innovative action research, conceptual knowledge-building, and capacity development for inclusive and sustainable development impact.
DeKMIS’s mission is to excel in delivering innovative, demand-driven capacity building and analytical services grounded in local realities, with a specialized focus on Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI), to enhance organizational and development effectiveness in the inclusive development Knowledge Age.
At DeKMIS, we view capacity building as essential for transformative and inclusive development. Our approach is built around three interrelated pillars — The What – developing strong conceptual and knowledge foundations; The Why – enabling critical reflection and analysis of structures, systems, and realities; and The How – supporting the practical application of knowledge in context-specific, meaningful ways. To operationalize this, we have developed adaptable frameworks and toolkits for training, research and assessments, and monitoring and evaluation. These are not static models — they are continuously refined through real-world practice, reflection, and learning, ensuring they remain responsive to evolving challenges and opportunities.
Our services are deeply contextualized — designed in close alignment with the specific needs, goals, and realities of the institutions, sectors, and communities we work with. They are grounded in adult learning principles, participatory methodologies, and critical reflection. We strive to move beyond mere technical knowledge to also foster emotional clarity and engagement, making learning meaningful and transformative for diverse stakeholders on the ground.
