Vox Pops! This is Fereena from Rothbury. Not only is she an expert in all things insurance, she is also our current Secretary/Treasurer in the Goal Achievers chapter.

Fereena goes above and beyond for her clients. In fact, she has been rated within the top five Rothbury insurance brokers in Aotearoa!

She has shared stories with us of how her clients called her in a panic, after something unexpected and significant had just happened. Without fail, she was able to support them through the process, and get them the best possible outcome from their coverage. In the situations where it becomes clear that they need something different, Fereena does not shy away from having those conversations. She operates with integrity, showing empathy, while telling people what they really need to know about insurance. Sounds like someone worth having on your team, right? Sweetbix.

It's hardly surprising given she eats the breakfast of champions.

If you have questions about insurance, have a chat to Fereena from Rothbury.

Vox Pops! Meet Chris Waters from Watershed Brand Lab.

Chris is an expert in all things brand: spoiler alert, your logo is only one piece of it. He is also our Goal Achievers Event Coordinator and Harbour Hospice Champion.

Chris believes in shifting the world by design. Using creativity and graphics to tell stories that stand out, get noticed, and feel real.

He also thinks Times is the worst font. Comic Sans loves to see it.

Last Friday we were fortunate enough to hear from Refresh Renovations Auckland Central - Neil Chand who gave the 10 minute presentation at BNI Goal Achievers.

Neil has been in the construction industry for over 28 years, and has seen it all. Through this time he has developed not only his skills, but his business principles and integrity. For Neil, delivering projects on time, on budget, and on spec is an every-day occurrence (yes really).

One of the key things he spoke about was that his team approach projects from a place of strong planning rather than uncertainty. He shared that it is common for people to receive free quotes from other companies who make big promises, and then can't deliver on them. Or if they can, it is only after blowing the budget and/or the timeline.

Instead, Refresh Renovations have a tried and tested system that allows them to provide accurate estimates, with specific details mapped out from the very beginning. Property owners know exactly what they're going to get, when it will be done, and what it will cost them.

Sounds like a winning formula to us!

Vox Pops! Say hello to Claire Day, the Founder and Director of CultureWise. She is our Education Coordinator at the Albany Goal Achievers chapter.

Claire serves as a workplace culture and organisational performance consultant. She has over a decade of experience in employee engagement, leadership, and wellbeing.

CultureWise runs customised engagement surveys, team wellbeing and productivity surveys, and broader wellbeing and productivity programmes to give leaders clear insight into what’s really happening in their teams, rather than just what they think might be going on.

She also has excellent taste in chocolate.

If your team would benefit from Claire's expertise, you are welcome to come along to a BNI meeting to have a chat. Contact us and we can get you sussed.

Identity matters, but not in a fluffy, 'brand values on a wall that no one actually reads' kind of way. It shows up in how people actually behave.

Recently, with the help of Claire Day from CultureWise, our chapter spent time getting clear on who we are, what makes us different, and what we want to be known for. And while “doing good business together” is a given, what stood out was something else entirely; people here genuinely give a damn about each other.

That came through loud and clear. Not just in words, but in how members show up: referring work, backing each other’s goals, and being there when things don’t go to plan. It’s not transactional. It’s human.

You can see it in the 60-second pitches too. It’s not just what people do, it’s how they do it. There’s a real focus on making clients feel understood, not just addressed.

At the most recent meeting, Fereena Jalil from Rothbury Insurance Brokers took out the 60 second pitch, chosen by last week's winner, Kay Hu of Seven Hills Cafe. Fereena spoke about supporting people through big moves: buying property, starting businesses, and helping them make the right insurance decisions along the way.

Interested in checking out a networking chapter built on good people doing good business? Feel free to get in touch.

Vox Pops! This is Ben Hasler from Link Advisory. Ben is our BNI Goal Achievers Visitor Host, so if you come along to a meeting, he will be the one looking after you.

While his pizza topping choices may be somewhat questionable, his experience and knowledge around lending is anything but. Ben is particularly motivated to help people who may not qualify for traditional lending options, and also to ensure those that do are getting the best deal.

The jury is still out on whether pineapple belongs on pizza.

Vox Pops! Meet Craig Shepherd, the current chapter Vice President for BNI Goal Achievers.

Craig is the Managing Director at Smart Installations Ltd, and specialises in all things home automation. He and his expert team help with everything from security systems, to automated lights, cameras, entertainment systems, and loads more.

In a recent 60 second pitch Craig talked about how it's possible to have your home heating automatically turn on as you are driving home from the office. Knowing that you'll be walking into a cosy environment after a long day... you really can't go wrong with that.

He also likes the colour blue.

You can see the full list of services available on their website https://www.smartinstallations.co.nz/

Last week we were treated to a ten minute talk from Caroline Li of Seven Hills Cafe Takapuna and Roasterie in Takapuna. Her presentation was the best kind of reminder that coffee is about far more than caffeine. Caroline showed us that coffee is about people, culture, and connection. Coffee, in her world, is a universal language of its own.

She talked about how coffee culture is deeply local. An Americano might be the globally accepted name for that style of brew, but here in Aotearoa the flat white is a staple. Every country, every city, every cafe adds its own accent.

Coffee isn’t really a luxury anymore; in most workplaces it’s become a necessity. Around 70% of people drink coffee every day, and those daily rituals are where culture, conversation, and community often start. The coffee station has become the new water cooler.

What many of us forget is how far that cup has travelled. Coffee beans move all over the world, and their origins tell a story long before they hit our mugs. Caroline and her team roast their own beans right here in Auckland, bringing those global stories into a very local context. One of the most interesting products she shared was their drip bag coffee; think teabag-style brewing, but with espresso-level flavour and feel.

For businesses, that drip bag format is a clever idea: you can brand the packaging, turning it into a corporate gift that people will actually use (and remember you for) instead of filing away. And even better still, it’s environmentally friendly!

If you’re into coffee, culture, or just a bit of competition, Seven Hills is also hosting the next round of the Drip Bag Brewers Championship on Thursday 23 April, 4:30–6:00pm, at their Takapuna roastery. Grand prize includes an origin trip to Yunnan, China, with gear, beans and cash prizes on the day for the winner.

Huge thanks to Caroline for reminding us that behind every “quick coffee” is a whole ecosystem of people, places, and stories.
