🔨 Saul and Matt swapped the office for the tool belts today, volunteering their time to help bring the new Wharenui at Dunstan High School one step closer to completion.

Otago Projects has been managing the project, alongside the landscape design and delivery, and it’s awesome to see the vision coming to life. It’s shaping up to be a fantastic asset for the school and wider community. 👌🏽

📸 Smoko time at Alpine Meadows!

Progress is taking shape in the new Alpine Meadows subdivision in Wanaka, where we are proud to be managing the project, including the civil works, for another great Queenstown Lakes Community Housing Trust (QLCHT) development.

This project will deliver three 3-bedroom homes, with the existing site being subdivided into three individual lots as part of the overall development. Construction is now underway across the site, with @ constructing houses #1 & 2, and .building constructing house #3.

It's exciting to see the foundations in place and another step taken toward delivering quality, innovative housing solutions for our community. 🏡

Concrete day! 👷‍♂️✨

Here's a wee glimpse of today's pour as this OP project continues to take shape - How cool is that Koru shape!!

We've really enjoyed being involved in this project, helping create a more welcoming entrance to the wharenui at Dunstan High School, alongside managing the wharenui extension. It's great seeing the vision come together, and we're looking forward to sharing more progress as the project develops!

🐑 Wool – one of nature’s most versatile materials.

We’ve teamed up with Hayden and the team at W.S. Hickey to give waste wool a second life in our landscaping projects. Instead of heading to landfill, this low-value wool is being used as a natural compost and weed-suppressing mulch in our garden beds.

Why wool?

🌱 Suppresses weeds naturally
💧 Holds moisture in the soil, reducing the need for watering
🌡️ Helps regulate soil temperature, protecting plant roots through changing seasons
🌿 Breaks down over time, releasing valuable nutrients like nitrogen back into the soil
♻️ 100% natural and biodegradable
🐌 Can even help deter slugs and pests thanks to its coarse fibres.

It's a great example of turning a waste product into something practical, sustainable, and beneficial for the landscapes we create!

Guess who’s back… back again 🎶

Steve’s back in the country after spending some time in Australia, and is now part of the OP team 🙌 With 20+ years in construction, he’s worked across everything from multi-house developments to bespoke homes. He’s also spent time as a building inspector, giving him great insight into compliance and quality. So it's safe to say, he knows what he's talking about. (When it comes to construction 😉)
