Another Wildcat or Here to Stay ? The 6.8 Western. I have a soft spot for the old .270 wi******er, its a great cartridge, can buy ammo anywhere, good knockdown out to decent range and a relatively flat trajectory. The Biggest restriction with the .270 for longer distances is a 1/10 barrel twist rate. In comes the 6.8 western, same diameter .277 projectiles, but the ability to send much heavier projectiles in the vicinity of 7mm rem mag factory ammo velocities, but in a short action rifle. There are quite a few ammo companies producing ammo and also a few manufacturers producing rifles in 6.8 western, my fave would be the X-Bolt Hells Canyon at the moment, great value for money and good accuracy. The 6.8 western project is reported to be a joint venture by and ******er.
Here's what you should know about the new 6.8 Western Cartridge Wi******er and Browning introduced to the hunting community in 2021.
