Tender new growth can be an easy target for hungry birds, particularly when other natural food sources are limited.

For kiwifruit growers, damage to newly emerged buds can affect the developing canopy and future fruit load before flowering has even begun. Acting early helps protect the season ahead.

Wild birds can be one pathway for Salmonella to enter a farm. Ducks, sparrows, gulls and other birds may contaminate feed pads, silage stacks, grain storage areas and water troughs through their droppings.

๐„๐œ๐จ๐๐ข๐ซ๐ provides a practical way to deter birds from these high-risk areas.

The attached photo demonstrates the results following an EcoBird application. After the right-hand side of the silage stack was treated, birds began avoiding that area within minutes.

Homemade lure or NoPestsยฎ Wasp Lure?

After trialling both options, conservation volunteer Nikki Slade Robinson had a clear preference: โ€œI did try the homemade lure recipe that gets handed around, but no way does it compare with the NoPestsยฎ Wasp Lure.โ€

Over the summer, her traps caught an estimated 32,000+ ๐ฐ๐จ๐ซ๐ค๐ž๐ซ ๐ฐ๐š๐ฌ๐ฉ๐ฌ.

NoPestsยฎ Wasp Lure is non-toxic and formulated to attract German and common wasps while being unattractive to bees and other insects.

When wasp pressure is high, using an effective, purpose-formulated lure can make a considerable difference.

Nikki and her fellow volunteers work within an ecologically significant area, planting native trees, controlling weeds and operating pest traplines.

Reducing German and common wasp numbers helps protect:

This spring, Nikki is encouraging neighbours and other care-group members to start trapping emerging queen wasps too.

Thatโ€™s a powerful result for a community working hard to protect its local environment.
