We are expanding our operations and to support the existing team we are looking for an experienced Machine Operator.

You will also need:
Good initiative and time management skills.
To be honest, self-motivated, serious about safety.
To be a cooperative team player - you will often work on jobs as part of a small team. Can do attitude.
Follow all established company’s Safety, Environmental, and Routine procedures specific to the yard.
Perform daily preventive maintenance checks. To include: inspecting the hydraulic system, the gearbox, conveyors, shaker tables, and couplers.
Perform weekly lubrication of the Pre Shredder and Shear and auxiliary equipment.
Input downtime into the production report downtime recording systems.
Communicate with the operator loading the pre-shredder/shear, the picking line, and maintenance to avoid unnecessary downtime and improve shredder efficiency.
Communicate all mechanical and electrical issues to the supervisor and the maintenance mechanic.
Assist with yard/pre-shredder/shear housekeeping efforts and perform other duties and work assignments as required and directed.
Assist co-workers in daily operational duties that are essential to the yard in terms of safety, efficiency, and profitability.
Problem-solving input and contributions as required.
Work with maintenance to unjam the shredder.
Assist maintenance in changing hammers.
Communicate all problems to the off-shift maintenance, so repairs or adjustments can be made before the next operating shift

Your key responsibilities will include:

*Operate the excavator/hoe and other heavy equipment in a safe and appropriate manner.
*Perform daily maintenance and safety checks of equipment.
*Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment, and clean, lubricate and refill equipment as necessary
*Train new employees in the safe and efficient operation of the Excavator/Hoe.
*Filling up Containers with the Excavator.
*Operate other heavy equipment and other construction-related duties as required.
*Monitoring team to ensure productivity, safety, and work quality are crucial in the role.
*Safety and quality-focused (Site Safe)
*Punctual and able to work Monday to Saturday (Shift Work)
*Follow management instructions
*Basic Computer Knowledge will be a plus.
*Two contactable references
*Environmental adaptability - working inside and outside in all weather conditions, and various locations.
*Forklift Operator Licence with proven experience in a similar role and shift work required.

To be successful in this role you need to have:

*Experience in operating of W / T / F (Wheeled, Digger, Tracked or Forklift) vehicles under 18 tonne.
*Relevant industry knowledge and experience for at least 2-3 years.
*You will need to be physically fit and have the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team

We are on the hunt for an enthusiastic Maintenance Person; you will be kept busy with the Maintenance duties of National Steel Ltd. The primary focus of this role would be to plan, direct, and action the maintenance line in a safe and effective manner.

The tasks in the role include, but are not limited to, the following:
*Ensuring the hydraulic and lubrication systems are checked, repaired, and maintained regularly
*Ensure that all vehicles and machinery is maintained and operated with the protection of the equipment and safety of staff as the first priorities
*To assist with ensuring the breakdown maintenance of machinery/equipment is completed in the shortest time possible at the least economic loss to the company
*To ensure that all maintenance reporting of work required and/or undertaken is fully completed

You will also need:

*Practical experience in maintenance of equipment and machinery in an industrial environment
*A qualification at a tertiary level in Mechanical Engineering or related field
*Prior experience with heavy industry or scrap metal industry experience or similar (Preferred)
*Ability to repair hydraulic valves, pumps, cylinders and ability to manufacture and replace hose fittings essential (Preferred)
*Welding knowledge (Arc & MIG) (Bonus)
*Ability to use numerical lathe would be an advantage
*Good knowledge of maintaining Health and Safety processes and compliance
*Methodical and Systematic approach to solving problems
*Experience in Standard Workshop Engineering practice
*Physically Fit and Active
*Full NZ Driving Licence and forklift license essential
