Starting 1 June 2026, applicants under the Growth category of New Zealand’s Active Investor Plus Visa will be allowed to include philanthropy as part of their investment portfolio.

Here’s what’s changing:
✅ Philanthropy can make up to 20% of the total investment
✅ Eligible charities and conservation projects may qualify
✅ Main focus remains on investments that support New Zealand’s economy
✅ Safeguards will ensure investments are genuine and provide no personal benefit to applicants

Immigration New Zealand has announced new work visa pathways for international graduates, effective 16 November 2026.

✅ New Short-term Graduate Work Visa
6 months of open work rights
Designed for graduates who are not eligible for a Post Study Work Visa
Allows time to find employment and potentially transition to an Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV)

✅ Expanded Post Study Work Visa Eligibility
Graduate Diploma (Level 7) holders may now qualify if they also hold a bachelor's degree (from New Zealand or overseas)
Eligible graduates can receive an open work visa for up to 1 year, depending on their study duration

⚠️ Important reminder:
Individuals who have already held a Post Study Work Visa will not be eligible for another Post Study Work Visa or the new Short-term Graduate Work Visa.

These updates create more opportunities for international students to gain New Zealand work experience and build a pathway toward long-term employment.

The enhanced Immigration Online system will be unavailable from midday – 23.59 NZST on Sunday 31 May 2026 while Immigration New Zealand carries out upgrades.

Customers and immigration staff will be unable to access the system while these upgrades are being made.
