Reclaim - Serious About Recycling

Reclaim - Serious About Recycling We are proud to be Toitū Enviromark Gold certified. https://www.reclaim.co.nz/ Waste is an integral part of life; it cannot be ignored.

For the last 50 years, Reclaim has led New Zealand's commercial sector towards circularity and waste minimisation through diverting recyclable materials from landfills. We all have an obligation to dispose of waste responsibly and contribute towards a better environment for future generations. While we are all responsible for maintaining our quality of life, New Zealand needs someone from the recy

cling industry to lead the way. Reclaim aspires to become the champion of business waste recycling, regarded as the industry expert and recognised as the leading recycling brand. We want to shift attitudes about waste. It should no longer be treated as rubbish and dismissed as worthless, it should be valued and re-used as a future resource. We want to ensure these resources are processed properly at dedicated recycling centres, rather than be buried in a landfill. Our goal is to extend our tailored services to all businesses so they are able to achieve their waste reduction and sustainability goals. Our mission is to provide recycling guidance, advice and assurance, by assisting the recovery of as many valuable recyclable resources as possible, ensuring more recycled products are manufactured.

"Nature loves a team effort." 🤝

The Reclaim team's second quarterly beach clean coincided with Conservation Week! The small cleanup crew made the most of the sun yesterday and was joined by a very cute helper who found and saved a lost trolley that was quite far from its home supermarket. 🛒 Other notable items picked up were a mermaid Barbie in the drain, paper packaging/takeaways packaging, lollipop sticks, bottle caps, and rope.

Every piece of litter we remove from our beaches is another item that won't break down into even smaller pieces in our seas or be consumed by an innocent bird or sea creature. 🌊🦢🐢🐟🦈🐠

If your team would like to organise a beach or park clean-up, we’d love to help!

Everyone wants to reduce waste. But most don’t actually know what they’re throwing away. 🤷‍♀️

And that’s the problem.

Without clear data, waste minimisation becomes guesswork with wrong bins, contaminated recycling, and missed opportunities.

Over time, that adds up to unnecessary cost, materials that could have been recycled going to landfill, and stalled sustainability goals.

International Zero Waste Day is a reminder to take action. 💚

A waste audit gives you clarity:
🗑️ What’s going into your waste bins
♻️ What can be diverted from landfill
🔎 Where to focus for the biggest impact

Reclaim's Toitū Enviromark Gold-certified waste audits provide:
• Dedicated bins to capture real waste output
• Full separation into key recycling streams available in your region
• Weighed, photographed, and tracked data
• Detailed reporting with clear, practical recommendations
• Tools to educate teams and sustain change

Because meaningful waste reduction doesn’t start with more effort.
It starts with evidence. 📊

If you’re using International Zero Waste Day as a reset point, start with a waste audit.

Happy Global Recycling Day! ♻️

Thanks to ImpacTex NZ for sharing this vision of perfection! 😍 Cardboard flattened, neatly packed, and kept out of landfill... ready to be recycled into new boxes. 📦♻️ (And no, this photo is not AI. 🤖)

That’s the principle behind Global Recycling Day: recognising recyclables as valuable resources, not rubbish.

If your business is still sending cardboard (or other recyclable materials) to landfill, it might be time to rethink your systems. 🤔⚙️ Reclaim can help!

Start treating materials like resources, not waste.

Just for fun. 🤪 How many kilograms of cardboard do you think this Reclaim recycling cage contains, saved from the landfill by ImpacTex?

Share your guess in the comments! 👇

This week is Food Waste Action Week and Reclaim is proud to support Love Food Hate Waste - New Zealand's month-long campaign.

The goal: keep 25,000 plates of leftovers out of the bin this March.

The impact?

🌍 30,000 kg of CO₂ avoided
🚗 driving 125,000 km less
📺 600,000 hours of TV switched off

All from simply eating what’s already in the fridge. 🍽️

Prevention comes first, that’s why our team is doing their best by logging their leftovers and doing their part.

But we also know that even with the best intentions, unavoidable food scraps remain. Peels, grounds, spoiled produce... materials that can be prevented from going to landfill.

Our food waste composting service ensures what can’t be eaten is properly recovered and returned to soil. 🌱

🔎 If you're reviewing your food waste practices this month, make sure you’re covering both prevention and recovery.

📝 Log your leftovers.
✅ And make sure the scraps are handled right.

Did you know that Reclaim started New Zealand's Recycling Week? ♻️
It didn’t start as a campaign.

It started with a question we kept hearing from clients:
❓ “How do we get our teams recycling properly?”

In the early 2010s, we had already built the website recycle.co.nz to remove confusion around recycling. No jargon. No theory. Just clear guidance. And it was adopted into school curriculums across New Zealand at that time.

It confirmed what we already knew:
When people understand waste systems, they make better decisions. ✅

So, in 2013, we launched New Zealand's Recycling Week.

Not as a publicity exercise, but as a structured week encouraging organisations to:
🔍 Review their waste practices
🎓 Educate their teams
📈 Raise operational standards

Today, it’s a nationwide initiative involving schools, SMEs, corporates, councils, and communities.

Registrations in 2025 are already at record levels, and customers notice which businesses step up.

💚 Recycling Week is FREE and practical.
Posters. Social graphics. Videos. Quizzes. Simple engagement ideas.

If you’re serious about waste minimisation, then this is the easiest place to start! 🌱

Ready to hit the road while making a real impact? 🚚

👀 We’re on the lookout for a reliable Class 2 Driver to operate our Glass & Mixed Recycling sorting truck. You’ll travel to customer sites, collect material, and sort recyclables from wheelie bins into the correct streams, keeping valuable resources out of landfill. ♻️

This is a hands-on, customer-facing role, perfect for someone who doesn’t mind rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in.

If you’re responsible, reliable, and work well as part of a team, then we’d love to hear from you.

Let your compostables do what they're meant to do... become compost! 🌱

Most compostable products end up in landfill without proper collection, which means wasted resources and missed sustainability wins. 👉 But there’s a better way!

Reclaim offers a certified compostables (including paper towels!) collection service that turns used materials into real compost through industrial recovery. 🌱 By diverting these items into composting, your business improves waste outcomes, supports the circular economy, and reinforces your brand’s environmental leadership.
