The purpose of air movers, also called blowers or carpet fans, in flood damage restoration is fairly simple. They are used to blow the moisture from the surfaces, such as carpet or hard flooring, into the air for removal by dehumidifiers. Air movers are centrifugal type fans which means they will move the air radially from the centre of the appliance. Boy, have the last few weeks been a challenge! Our hearts go out to anyone who has been affected by the flooding or Gabrielle. It's an ongoing distressing situation for many, many individuals and families. As we start to roll through autumn we can't, unfortunately, let our guards down. This is the time of year that trees are starting to shed their leaves and all those leaves are desperate to sit on top of our storm water grates. At this time of year it is important to keep your cesspit clean and clear of leaves and other rubbish. Flood prevention helps you to not even need flood restoration. Clean out your guttering too. A piece of advice we give all householders that rent our carpet drying gear is 'when you think the carpet is totally dry, think again'. It is best to leave the gear in a bit longer than you need to. Why is this? When a carpet is flooded, the underlay and the subfloor also get wet. A hand can be placed on top of the carpet and it may feel dry to touch. However, underneath it is almost always still damp. If the carpet, underlay and subfloor are not fully dry then mould will grow and mould in the home is a very serious health hazard.

They will be used in tandem with air movers. Our dehumidifiers can pull up to 66 litres of water a day out of the air compared to the 10 to 12 litres a day capable by most household dehumidifiers.
