Bi-Parting Cantilever Gates

This Coral Fabrication & Automation install is a strong example of colour-matching a residential gate—right down to the concrete pad.

Coral mounted their gate on our patented TonkaTrak aluminium cantilever track system, powered by the Bambino operator at 26 m/min. Because it’s bi-parting, the effective opening speed is 52 m/min.

Bambino is Roger’s compact 24V powerhouse with a quiet brushless motor. It runs silently at full speed with a 100% duty cycle and moves gates up to 400 kg smoothly at 26 m/min. Built for residential and light commercial use, it’s an ideal match for TonkaTrak.

Manual Cantilever

Not every cantilever gate needs to be automatic. Aluminium gates are light and easy to slide by hand. St Joseph’s in Brisbane needed a simple, low-cost entrance gate that staff could open easily. TonkaTrak was the perfect fit.

TonkaTrak is the pioneering cantilever gate system for residential or light-commercial gates that can be installed without the usual complications associated with traditional cantilever systems.

Designed and engineered by Edgesmith, TonkaTrak’s patented carriage is engineered to auto-adjust to ensure exact alignment of the track and carriage throughout the gate’s lifetime. Simply mount the carriages and use an open-end spanner to match the height, and the self-adjust design will take care of the rest. In addition, its grooved wheels keep the gate travelling in a straight line.

A few photos from a recent Mercury balustrade install by trade partners North Harbour Fencing, mounted across both stone and timber retaining walls.

The panels handled the changes in wall type and ground levels cleanly, using the full 2.4 m post centres and raking capability up to 30 degrees. The patented fixing system kept the panels rigid once set, with the standard 65 mm SHS posts and the usual coach-screw or bolt fixings into the timber sections. Stone sections were straightforward with the same post set-out.
Useful reference if you are pricing or installing Mercury on mixed retaining walls where levels vary and you want to avoid stepped panels or extra posts. Product details and spec sheets are at edgesmith.co.nz
