Over the past few months, I have been lucky to work across a range of events and projects that have been both busy and incredibly rewarding.

• Work highlights
Helped deliver a number of Consular Corps Speakers Corner events, including:
o Anna Law (Protocol Division, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade) on Emergency Planning and Preparedness
o Patrick Gamble, Honorary Consul of Ukraine, on Ukraine: Past, Present and Future
o Simon Bridges, CEO of the Auckland Business Chamber, on Taking Kiwi Businesses to the World
o Wrapped up the highlight of the consular calendar: the Auckland Consular Corps Annual Dinner, designed by Peter Gordon and hosted by David Raudkivi, Honorary Consul of Estonia, at Russell McVeagh

• University highlights
Semester Two at AUT also brought some great milestones:
o PhD Confirmation of Candidature approved
o Selected as a Doctoral Student Representative on the Student Advisory Group
o Became a founding postgraduate member and Research Assistant with the AUT Social Transformation Research Institute
o Continued research assistant work on the Marsden-funded project Networks of Power: Gender, Race and Class in Workplace Violence

After five years and having created and launched the St Paul’s College Old Boys and Friends website, I will be saying goodbye to the St Paul’s College Development Foundation Trust and hello to supporting the Brickworks Body Corporate Committee.

Grateful for the people and opportunities that made this such a positive few months.

Over the last few months, I been involved in managing a number of exciting events, including:

• Speakers Corner with Charles Finny, Chair of New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE)
• Auckland Consular Corps 2025 Annual General Meeting at the British Consulate General in Auckland
• Chartered Governance Institute, Professional Standards Committee Meeting (two-day event)
• Speakers Corner with Deputy Mayor Desley Simpson on the relationship between Auckland Council and the Auckland Consular Corps
• St Paul’s College 70th Jubilee Celebrations
• Irish Business Network of New Zealand (IBNNZ) 10-Year Anniversary Celebration
• Speakers Corner with Chris Linton, Honorary Consul of Finland, on the Fabulous Finns

Alongside this, Semester One at AUT has been busy and rewarding. I worked on my confirmation of candidature research proposal and contributed to the HRMG602: Learning and Development paper through hybrid face-to-face question times and marking. This course explored the strategic context and principles that shape learning in current and future workplaces.

Another highlight was being selected for membership in Beta Gamma Sigma, the international honor society for collegiate schools of business (Auckland University of Technology Chapter), in recognition of my Master’s research: Smashing the Patriarchy and Creating a Gender Equal Society through Pay Transparency.

Thank you to the Australian High Commissioner, H.E. Harinder Sidhu AM, and our very own Australian Consul-General in Auckland, Brad Williams, for hosting the Auckland Consular Corps at the Australia Day Reception at Eden Park to acknowledge Australia’s national day. It was a lovely evening and an opportunity to celebrate the special relationship between our two countries.

I am back for 2025 and was fortunate to host the Irish Business Network of New Zealand (IBNNZ) event on leadership, business and sport with Sport NZ’s Raelene Castle ONZM and Raewyn Lovett ONZM sharing their incredible leadership journeys. This was an engaging and insightful session on leadership, business and sport from two of the most influential women in sports leadership.

In December, I had the privilege of hosting and overseeing the Christmas events for the Irish Business Network of New Zealand (IBNNZ) and the Auckland Consular Corps. These events were a fitting conclusion to an incredibly memorable year.

There have been Annual Dinners, AGMs, Speakers Corner events, year-ends, lecturing, graduation, marking, a doctoral induction and I published my first article from my Masters research. I am extremely proud of all I have accomplished this year and look forward to next year when I will be halfway through a PhD, which is wild!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

It has been a busy six months. In August, the St Paul’s Development Foundation Trust hosted its annual Sacred Heart event, while the Auckland Consular Corps continued its monthly Speakers Corner events. These events have provided invaluable insights into the diverse countries, cultures, and political systems of our speakers, including Consul Generals, Honorary Consuls, and Honorary Consul Generals from Latvia, the United States of America, Hungary, Switzerland, Armenia, Ireland, and the Philippines. In October, the Auckland Consular Corps held their Annual Dinner at Michael Meredith’s Metita, a Pacific-inspired restaurant reflecting his Samoan heritage. I also graduated with a Master of Business in Management, was inducted into AUT’s Doctoral programme, awarded the AUT Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarship and continued my Teaching Assistant role with AUT.

I am extremely honoured and grateful to have received the Auckland University of Technology Vice-Chancellor’s Doctoral Scholarship. It is a privilege to continue exploring the challenges of gender equality in Aotearoa New Zealand's labour market through my research.

It has been an eventful quarter with three significant events in March 2024, including the Auckland Consular Corps Annual Dinner at Homeland, followed by the first Speakers Corner event of the year at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade on Diplomatic Protocol, and the St Paul’s College Development Foundation Trust's Outstanding Achievers Dinner. Alongside these events, I have maintained my role as a workshop lecturer at AUT, where I teach ethics, responsibility, and sustainability, and at Carter Electrical Limited, where I continue as their Office Manager/HR Advisor.

In April, there have been two AGMs held for both the Auckland Consular Corps and the St Paul’s Development Foundation, alongside financial year-end activities at Carter Electrical Limited and Go to Girl.

That’s a wrap for 2023!

This year's most significant highlight was finishing off my master’s thesis. What a journey that was!

It has been a hectic year that got me out of my comfort zone when AUT asked if I would be interested in teaching an undergraduate class. I will continue teaching next year at AUT as I complete my admission forms into a doctoral programme with them. Let’s see how that all goes!

This year started with a bang when the Auckland Consular Corps hosted the Governor-General of New Zealand, Her Excellency Dame Cindy Kiro, at Homeland. This was one of the highlights of my year, along with being fortunate enough to spend Anzac Day at the Auckland Museum with the Auckland Consular Corps entourage, meeting the Mayor of Auckland and the Prime Minister. Commemorating the 70th Anniversary Everest Day Celebrations at Parliament House with the Honorary Consul of Nepal was also an honour.

Time seems to fly by, as I have been working with Carter Electrical Limited for four years, St Paul’s Development Foundation Trust coming up three years, and the Auckland Consular Corps for almost two years.

Things keep ticking along; Carter Electrical Limited’s accounts are all up to date, along with their policies and procedures; St Paul’s Development Foundation Trust has an additional three historical, cultural archives and artifacts archive online, along with numerous newsletters and updates that have gone out during the year.

I look forward to seeing what next year brings and thank you for all your support over the past year.
