Pyramid Engineering is a contract manufacturing and precision engineering business based in Silverdale. We operate a modern shop with the latest machine tools and software. We work for a wide range of clients, in a wide range of industries.
We currently seeking CNC Machinists to join our team.
There are several positions available, to suit various levels of experience. We are looking for programmers/ setters/operators. Our work ranges from simple milling and turning of machine parts, through to 5-axis pieces with complex geometries and tight tolerances for the aerospace industry.
We operate a morning shift from 6am – 2:30pm and an afternoon shift from 2:30pm until 11pm. A willingness to work both when required is an advantage.

• Reading engineering drawings.
• Performing and documenting quality checks to a high standard.

• Be using GibbsCam for offline programming, or Mazatrol for programming at the controller. Competence in one or both is a definite advantage, however training will be given to a person with the right attitude and suitable experience.
• Have the opportunity to operate some of the latest Mazak CNC machines, producing components for some of New Zealand’s leading technology companies.
OVERVIEW:
The CNC Machinist role here at Pyramid Engineering is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of CNC machining, setting and programing operations. This role is tasked with working with the CNC Manager and team to increase productivity by optimizing machining programs and procedures.
Note: This is NOT an entry level job (no push button operators or parts loaders) candidates will be tested.
RESPONSABLITIES:
• Responsible for setting up, operating and programing a CNC Lathe and Milling Machines
(3 Axis & 5 Axis)
• Must be able to complete machining operations from drawings and/or verbal instructions
• Must have experience with complex, tight tolerance parts and various materials
• Make machine adjustments that may be required, check dimensions, etc to insure conformance to drawings
• Set up machines to precise tolerances and operate various types of machinery in production following established procedures
• Select proper tooling to preform required manufacturing operations.
• Machine precision fixtures, tooling and product from drawings, in accordance with established procedures, with limited supervision.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
• At least 2 years of experience in set up, operation and programming of CNC machines
• Mazak experience is preferable
• Knowledgeable with Gibbs and Mazatrol
• Ability to read and work off of manufacturing drawings
• Ability to work overtime and weekends as needed
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
• This is for a permanent full-time role.
• This shift position is from 2.30pm to 11.00pm as a start.
• Must be eligible to work in New Zealand and be able to start immediately.
