Mailchimp is discontinuing the Classic Automation Builder on June 1, 2025. Automated email will only be available for paid marketing plans. The Classic Automation Builder is Mailchimp's original automated email tool. We’re focused on updating and maintaining our newer automated email tool, Customer Journey Builder, and have decided to discontinue the Classic Automation Builder on June 1, 2025.
Here is their announcement:
Since you have a Classic Automation that is currently active or was active in the past year, you may want to consider upgrading to a paid marketing plan by June 1 to use automated email with Customer Journey Builder.
What’s happening
On June 1, 2025, we'll discontinue the Classic Automation Builder. This is what you can expect:
We'll archive all Classic Automations on June 1, and no new contacts will enter the workflows.
You’ll be able to view a list of your archived Classic Automations on and after June 1, but they can’t be edited and new ones can’t be created. Clicking the name of a Classic Automation will take you to the corresponding Classic Automation report.
Any contacts who are in a Classic Automation queue as of June 1 will not complete the workflow.
What you need to do
To continue using automated email on and after June 1, 2025, you’ll need to upgrade to a paid marketing plan to convert your Classic Automations to Customer Journeys.
We encourage you to compare our plans to see which paid marketing plan works best for your needs. If you’re ready to upgrade to a paid marketing plan to start using Customer Journey Builder, you can do so on the billing plan page in your Mailchimp account.
What’s next
We want to make sure you’re prepared for this change, so we’ll send a reminder email if you’re on a free plan and have a Classic Automation that is currently active or was active in the past year. We thank you for your understanding as we focus on Customer Journey Builder as our automated email tool.
