🐾 Celebrity Pet Spotlight: Lupita Nyong’o & Yayo 🍊

From conquering a lifelong fear on a movie set to finding her absolute best friend, Lupita Nyong’o and her orange rescue cat, Yayo, are the ultimate duo. 🐾🧡

When Lupita signed on to star in A Quiet Place: Day One, her character had a very important co-star — a cat.

The only problem? Lupita was absolutely terrified of cats in real life.

Determined to face her phobia, she went through cat therapy before filming and, somewhere along the way, completely fell in love with them.

That leap of faith eventually led her to Yayo, a gorgeous orange rescue who stole her heart and officially made her a very proud cat mum. 😻

Today, he’s her constant companion and a regular star on her social media — proving that sometimes our biggest fears can lead us to something pretty special.

That before-and-after is seriously something else.

Fresh coat, beautiful finish, handsome face on full display — just WOW.

🐱 FUN FACT: Cats can purr while breathing in AND out! 🐾

Unlike most sounds we make, a cat’s purr can continue through both inhaling and exhaling — which is why it can sound so steady and continuous.

That familiar little rumble is created by rapid movements of muscles around the voice box while the cat breathes.

And cats don’t only purr when they’re happy. They may also purr when they’re relaxed, seeking comfort, nervous or even in pain.

Basically… that tiny motor can mean more than just “I’m happy.” 💛
