What You'll Be Doing:
Unloading shipping containers filled with a variety of goods. Your team's output directly affects your earnings.

Work Schedule:

Shifts generally offered Monday to Friday, starting from 5:00 AM for approximately 8 hours.

PM shifts may become available in the future.

Flexibility to accept or decline shifts as they are offered.

From Challenge to Potential: Empowering Our Next Generation

The 6th Young Guns Potential First – Training to Employment Pathways program is a powerful example of what happens when innovation meets genuine commitment. Our 3rd Launch into Work initiative—delivered in partnership with Kmart Australia / Wesfarmers and funded by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations—focuses on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people who too often are seen only through the lens of their challenges, not their potential.

At Young Guns, we focus on building real Connections—creating a safe space where young people can be themselves, free from judgement, and supported to grow. Over six weeks, eight young men are choosing courage over fear, stepping into opportunity, and redefining what’s possible for their futures.

In 2021, 54.7% of young Australians aged 18–24 were disengaged from employment, education or training. That statistic tells us exactly why programs like Potential First are essential. These initiatives break down barriers—whether systemic, social or historical—and create real pathways to sustainable employment and empowerment.

We have completed the Australian roll out of the "YG Gap guard", a patented tool designed to remove dock gap hazard/risk our frontline team face when commencing unpacks on rear docks.

YG processes over 200,000 containers through rear docks per year, this previously created regular interactions and risk for our team to operate. In the previous 24 months we had 800+ hazards flagged by our frontline team and 23 safety events. Since the roll out we have seen significant reductions in events and hazards flagged by our frontline team.

Over 100 Guards were manufactured and rolled out to existing operations over the last 6 months, with plans to implement to our North American Operations this quarter.

Throughout August and September, Young Guns are running scenario based workshops for our emerging and established Operational leaders across Australia, New Zealand and Canada, on the topic of Respect at work.

As part of these workshops, we have been practising responding to unwelcome behaviour, early identification and de-escalation of conflict, and collaborating with our customers to create a more psychologically safe work environment.

Shout out to the team for attending these workshops and to our NZ Coach Devan, and the Crew Leaders and Captains at our Auckland and Hamilton sites pictured below, for their enthusiastic (and hilarious) role-playing and their incredible responses in our most recent workshop last week 🙌🏼.

Last week marked the successful conclusion of yet another remarkable initiative: the "Launch into Work Program," a collaborative effort between Young Guns, the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, and Kmart Queensland. In this round, we proudly welcomed 11 new Indigenous team members into Young Guns 💪.

Delivered within a local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander framework, this program encompasses five vital subjects, including Resilience, Well-being, Financial Management, Workplace Expectations, and more.

Through our partnership with Kmart Australia Limited and the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations, we aim to equip individuals for success by providing tailored training before their workplace induction 🙌.

The horizon looks promising for both our Aboriginal & Torres Strait participants and the future of this program. We eagerly anticipate making an even greater impact on the wider community shortly.
