Bubble Co Helping Small Businesses navigate the Office Design + Fit-out Process to create Workspaces that WORK!

Just saying…

You can take an ad-hoc approach to team and business growth, or you can strategically and consciously plan for it, ahead of time.

Wanna guess which option is better for staff morale and productivity?

This was a direct quote from a team workshop I ran recently…

The business was struggling to get their team back on site, with many still working from home most of the time.

Like many businesses post covid they had middle management stuck in the belief that if the team were in the office, then they weren’t working, because they couldn’t see them working.

But in reality, it’s pretty easy to see if work isn’t happening, whether the team are in front of you or not.

I think what working from home has demonstrated more than anything is that we all work differently. Because we’re all different!

We have different personalities… introverts and extroverts… and we have different capacities for being around others… some thrive off interaction with others, and struggled being cut off during lockdowns; while some are drained by too much human interaction, or are overwhelmed by too much going on around them.

The new office isn’t about trying to get everyone back in the same old office full time. It’s about understanding that people work differently and providing different spaces for people to utilize for different tasks, while still providing a place where the team want to spend time in to connect, collaborate, communicate and share knowledge… a place where they feel like they belong, and feel valued.

One of the things I pay most attention to in a workplace isn’t the finishes… it’s the flow.

Where people naturally move.
Where they pause.
Where conversations can (or can’t) happen.

In this space, the biggest shift didn’t come from changing the structure… it came from noticing what the layout was already encouraging… and gently redirecting and supporting it.

Small, intentional changes can completely change how a space is experienced, what it communicates, how well it supports the team using it.

Strategy matters.

I love a good vibe.
I also love a successful workspace as a result of strategic design.

So many business owners don’t actually realise what bad office design is costing them.

When a workspace doesn’t reflect your brand or culture, it quietly sends the wrong message to clients. Even if your service is excellent, the perception can be that you’re not quite at the level you say you are; and that can absolutely cost you new business.

Then there’s the cost of staff turnover. If people don’t feel comfortable, supported, or valued in their work environment, they leave. And replacing a staff member can cost the equivalent of their annual salary once you factor in recruitment, onboarding, and lost productivity.

Add to that the invisible costs:
– inefficient layouts that slow people down
– constant disruption and lack of focus
– teams compensating for a space that doesn’t support them

You’re still paying wages, but people can’t do their best work.

And then there’s real estate. I see businesses paying premium leases for offices that are half empty most of the time, or only partially used because the space simply doesn’t work for how the team operates. That’s expensive space doing very little.

Yes, good design and a proper strategy process costs money.
But bad design costs far more… it just does it quietly, over time.

That’s the part most business owners miss.
