Last week, the Financial Services Council launched its 2026 Financial Resilience Index - an annual tracker measuring the financial confidence and wellbeing of New Zealanders.

This year’s report shows Kiwis are feeling more confident with money, but financial pressures are still being felt in everyday life.

A few key findings:
• 90% of New Zealanders are at least reasonably confident making financial decisions
• 65% worry about money at least monthly, rising to 76% among Gen Z
• 59% say financial issues have affected their mental health.

Great to see the report covered across Newstalk ZB, RNZ, Stuff and the NZ Herald, spanning themes from retirement preparedness, wellbeing impacts and financial confidence.

Last Thursday we attended the annual PRINZ Awards. Anthem and Spark were recognised for the Spark Kids Plan launch, winning Gold in Marketing Communications and Bronze for Best Use of Media Relations.

Launching New Zealand’s first mobile plan designed especially for kids meant entering a live national conversation about children, phones, online safety and digital independence. The work needed to be more than a product announcement - it had to help Spark show up as a trusted voice, supporting parents with practical guidance and contributing constructively to a complex issue.

The PRINZ Awards are an important marker of excellence for New Zealand’s communications industry. They recognise the thinking behind the work: the strategy, judgement, creativity and care it takes to help organisations show up well in the moments that matter. To be recognised across two highly competitive categories is a significant moment for our team, and a reflection of the strength of Anthem’s unique integrated communications approach.

Congratulations to the Spark corporate affairs team - who also took home awards in the Internal Communications and In-House Team categories - and everyone who received an award last night. Thank you to PRINZ and the judges for this recognition.

We’re thrilled to have been shortlisted in two agency categories at the 2026 PR Awards Asia-Pacific: Boutique Consultancy of the Year and Specialist Consultancy of the Year.

To be recognised at a regional level is a proud moment for our team and a reflection of the care, craft and strategic thinking that goes into our work across reputation, corporate, consumer, health and integrated communications.

A heartfelt thank you to our clients and partners who trust us to help shape stories, strengthen influence and create meaningful impact. Congratulations to all the finalists - we look forward to the winners' announcement in early June.

As winter approaches, the call has gone out to help keep more tamariki warm and well through Middlemore Foundation's annual Jammies for June campaign. This year, Dame Valerie Adams is taking her Jammie Army beyond Auckland for the first time, with the campaign expanding to Wellington to support children and whānau across both regions.

Jammies for June is aiming to provide 25,000 pairs of pyjamas for 25,000 children this winter, while also marking 25 years of Kidz First Children’s Hospital caring for tamariki and whānau in South Auckland.

Anthem is proud to support Middlemore Foundation and its mission to help keep tamariki warm, healthy and cared for through the colder months.

To show your support, visit https://www.jammiesforjune.org.nz/donation to find out how to donate, fundraise or buy pyjamas for children in need.

We were proud to work alongside Blood Cancer NZ with the launch of The State of Blood Cancer in New Zealand Report, the first comprehensive report on the scale, impact and future of blood cancer care in Aotearoa 🩸

The report makes the need for change clear: around 27,000 New Zealanders are living with blood cancer, more than 3,000 are diagnosed each year, and over 1,000 die annually.

It also highlights gaps in access to modern therapies, and the need for stronger national planning across care, services, workforce, trials and infrastructure.

The launch has already helped prompt action, with Minister of Health Simeon Brown announcing a new national blood cancer oversight group, a positive step towards more connected, patient-focused care.

Congratulations to the Blood Cancer NZ team on this important milestone, and thank you to Andrew Mackintosh for sharing your story and bringing the human impact to life.
