✅ TWO JOB CHECKS APPROVED THIS WEEK!

A great result for two of our accredited employers — two Job Checks approved this week, with both approved within one week of submission.

While processing times can never be guaranteed, these results show that Job Checks can still move efficiently when the recruitment has been completed properly and the application is well prepared before submission.

But we also want to be clear about the reality of the current labour market.

As New Zealand moves closer to the 2026 General Election and unemployment remains high, employers should expect Job Checks and Accredited Employer Work Visas to receive careful scrutiny.

A Job Check is not simply about wanting to employ a migrant worker.

Employers must genuinely test the New Zealand labour market and give suitable New Zealand citizens and residents a fair opportunity to apply for the position.

At TDA Immigration, before we proceed with a Job Check, we review the employer's recruitment carefully.

We look at:

how the position was advertised;
how many New Zealand citizens and residents applied;
whether applicants were genuinely considered;
why applicants were considered unsuitable or unavailable; and
whether the recruitment process meets Immigration New Zealand's requirements.

If we believe the recruitment has not been completed to the standard Immigration New Zealand expects, we will tell the employer before we start the Job Check process.

Sometimes that means advising an employer to advertise again or undertake further recruitment.

We would rather give an employer the truth than take their money and submit an application that is not ready.

This is not a money-making exercise. It is about meeting Immigration New Zealand policy and getting the process right.

Migrant workers continue to play an important role in New Zealand businesses, but employers must genuinely consider suitable and available New Zealand citizens and residents where required.

Our two approvals this week show that Job Checks are still being approved — and can be approved quickly — when there is a genuine vacancy, the employer has undertaken a proper recruitment process, and the application is ready before it is submitted.

At TDA Immigration, our job is not to simply lodge an application. Our job is to tell you the truth, identify any issues before submission, and give your application the strongest possible foundation under current Immigration New Zealand policy.

AEWV and Green List applicants—be prepared for an Immigration verification call.

Know your employer, job duties, pay rate, hours, work location and recruitment process. Your answers must be honest and consistent with the documents submitted in your application.

Immigration Update
Kia ora,

You are receiving this email because you have an expression of interest (EOI) in the pool for a Parent Resident Visa.

The Government is making changes to the Parent Resident Visa EOI selection process, with a new hybrid selection model taking effect from 5 October 2026. Under this model, about 90% of EOIs will be selected in date order through the pool, while 10% will continue to be selected through a random ballot. The total number of visas that can be approved in principle each year remains at 2,500.

As your EOI will still be valid on 5 October 2026, you do not need to do anything now.

More information about these changes, including what they mean for current EOI holders, will be shared before the new system takes effect.

Congratulations to Hong (Daisy) D**g on another superb visa approval! 🎉

This application involved significant character concerns and required a carefully prepared character waiver request. Daisy ensured that the application was complete from the outset, with detailed submissions addressing the applicant’s immigration history, the circumstances surrounding the previous issue, their current compliance, genuine intentions, and supporting evidence.

This is especially important for applicants applying from overseas. Immigration New Zealand may decline an offshore application without first requesting further information or giving the applicant an opportunity to clarify concerns. A strong, transparent and well-evidenced application must therefore be presented from the beginning.

We are delighted that the General Visitor Visa has now been approved.

Well done, Daisy, for your careful preparation, sound judgment and another excellent result for the client.

A courageous step forward — residence approved in principle 🌿

Domestic violence is never acceptable.

It is deeply sad that, after surviving violence, a person may then face further fear and uncertainty about their immigration status. Having to explain painful experiences, gather evidence, and prove why you should not be forced to leave New Zealand can feel like another layer of trauma.

Today, we acknowledge the courage of one brave person whose Victims of Domestic Violence Resident Visa application has been approved in principle.

This outcome reflects extraordinary strength, patience, and endurance. You kept going through every difficult step until you reached this day.

Kia kaha. We honour your courage and your determination to build a safer future.

“Whāia te iti kahurangi, ki te tūohu koe, me he maunga teitei.”
Pursue that which is precious, and if you must bow, let it be only to a lofty mountain.

May this decision mark the beginning of a new chapter filled with safety, dignity, healing, and hope.

Another successful visa outcome for our client!

TDA Immigration and Student Services took over this Partner of an AEWV Worker Visa application after Immigration New Zealand raised concerns.

We carefully reviewed the application, addressed each concern clearly, and provided supporting evidence and detailed explanations.

We are pleased to confirm that the application was approved yesterday.

This result highlights the importance of responding to immigration concerns carefully, honestly, and with the right evidence.

Congratulations to our client and their family. We wish them every success as they continue their journey together in New Zealand.
