Here are some photos of a quilt I made for some friends who were married recently in Whitianga. The fabric is mostly from a Moda range called Basic Mixologie by Studio M and the pattern is a free download from the Moda Fabrics website - see link below.
The downloaded pattern is for a 60" x 70" quilt so I added a few more fabrics as I wanted a bigger quilt. I made my blocks 6" rather than 5" and made an extra 14 blocks. My finished quilt was 84" x 96" and I'm delighted with how it turned out.
I chose an edge to edge quilting pattern of circles and lines to complement the geometry of the triangles. I love the randomness of where the circles pop up and how they make your eye move across the quilt.
As I was concerned with how my machine would handle so many seams intersecting at the block centres, I used the glide foot accessory which is designed to easily move up and over those bulky areas - it handled it perfectly and I needn't have worried.
Needless to say the bride and groom are delighted with their quilt!
