gned Programmes we provide on-the-job guidance which systematically moves a business owner's abilities up in achievable levels. Whilst the majority of our clients are small businesses that have been in business for 2-10 years, the Programme also works with more established businesses helping them to carry out due diligence and look at planned growth and maximised profit. Our approach is consultative in that we fit the Programme to the needs of the individual business owner and seek reports and feedback regularly to ensure the process is working for the client, and that they are comfortable. We also use NLP (neuro linguistic programming) which is a proven technique in leadership development which results in self-monitored and self-directed behaviour change.

Before the busy season arrives, it’s worth asking a simple question:

What is taking up time, money or energy without creating enough value in return?

For many trade and construction businesses, the answer is found in outdated pricing, unprofitable work, unfinished admin, unclear responsibilities or too much still sitting with the owner.

A business spring clean doesn’t mean changing everything. It means clearing out what is no longer helping the business move forward.

Start small:
• One thing to stop
• One thing to finish
• One thing to improve

Sometimes the best way to prepare for growth is not to add more.

It’s to remove what’s getting in the way.

When the market gets tougher, every opportunity can start to feel urgent.

A new service. A new market. A different type of customer.

But chasing more work does not always build a stronger business. Sometimes the better move is to step back, identify where you create the most value and put your focus back on the customers, services and capabilities that made the business successful in the first place.

Growth does not always mean doing more. It can mean becoming more focused, more efficient and even better at the work you already do well.

In our latest article, we look at how trade business owners can strengthen their core business while still exploring new opportunities with the right boundaries in place.

Most trade business owners don't have a workload problem.

They have a bottleneck problem.

As businesses grow, owners often become the answer to every question, every decision and every problem.

Before long, they're:
✔ Rewriting the same emails
✔ Chasing paperwork
✔ Managing every schedule change
✔ Following up every customer
✔ Solving every issue personally

The result?

The business becomes dependent on them.

Every hour spent on low-value work is an hour not spent leading the business.

If you want your business to grow, some tasks need to be delegated, systemised, automated or eliminated.

We've put together a simple infographic highlighting 10 tasks trade business owners should stop doing themselves.

How many are still sitting on your plate?
