One year on and the impact speaks for itself.

We’re proud to mark 12 months since re-securing the Christchurch City Council Bus Exchange, one of the city’s busiest and most visible public spaces.

Over the past year, our focus has been simple: create safer spaces and support more connected communities. The result?
🔻 49% reduction in total incidents (March 2025 → March 2026)
🔺 Increased foot traffic, including the opening of One NZ, bringing even more people through the Exchange daily
✅ Stronger community presence and improved customer confidence in the space

Construction sites don’t stay the same for long.

As Naylor Love’s construction project evolved, so did the demands around site access and security.

With the site expanding and multiple entry and exit points needing to be managed, the environment became increasingly complex. Maintaining consistent control across the site required an approach that could adapt alongside the project as operational needs changed.

Red Badge adjusted to those changing conditions throughout the different stages of the build, ensuring site access and security processes continued to operate smoothly as the site evolved.

That flexibility helped maintain a structured and controlled environment onsite, while allowing the wider team to stay focused on delivering the project safely and efficiently.

A huge congratulations to Simon Mackereth for being named a finalist in the Outstanding Young Security Professional category at the 2026 New Zealand OSPAs 👏

And yes… we’re feeling pretty proud ourselves after also being named finalists for Outstanding Contract Security Company (Guarding).

The OSPAs celebrate excellence right across the security industry, so to be recognised alongside some of the best in the country is a massive achievement for both Simon and the wider Red Badge team.

Meet Courtney, our new South Island Guarding & Patrol Services Manager.

Courtney has joined Red Badge to lead our guarding and patrol teams across the South Island, bringing more than 10 years’ experience across security, retail, and national operations roles, alongside community-focused work with the likes of Auckland City Mission.

Her background spans loss prevention, large-scale retail environments, and leadership roles where understanding people and adapting approach is critical.

That experience has shaped a leadership style grounded in connection and curiosity - something she brings into every interaction with her teams.

What excites her most about the role?

“The potential. Every team has superpowers. My job is to help uncover those - and help them shine.”

Outside of work, she’s deeply connected to sport, having played football, rugby, and league from a young age. She represented the Cook Islands internationally from the age of 18, played at the highest level in New Zealand, and now also coaches - working in talent development and helping young players progress into professional pathways.

We’re excited to have Courtney on board and looking forward to what’s ahead.

Strong foundations matter.
Our re‑vamped Foundations Training programme, delivered in partnership with RISQ Australasia, is lifting capability where it counts - right from day one.

Since deploying our new foundations training programme over six months ago, we’ve seen meaningful improvements in consistency, confidence, and performance across our frontline teams. Officers are better prepared, customers are seeing the difference, and standards are being set early.

We've seen this also reflected in zero early-stage turnover for graduates, and an increase in our quality assurance audits now sitting at 98.5%!

Not all site access is managed the same way.

Before partnering with Red Badge, site access at Naylor Love’s construction site was managed through labour hire. While this covered the role, it didn’t provide the consistency or level of security expertise required, particularly as the site became busier.

Bringing in Red Badge introduced a more structured and consistent approach, with trained security professionals taking clear ownership of site access.

The result was stronger control over who was entering the site, fewer disruptions, and a noticeable lift in overall site standards.

As Project Manager Paul Mason noted, “they didn’t just meet our expectations - they exceeded them.”

This week marks the opening of the One NZ Stadium in Christchurch - kicking off with the 2026 Super Round over ANZAC weekend.

With 25,000 seats under a fixed roof and three days of rugby ahead, it’s set to be a significant moment on the events calendar.

However, big events don’t just start on opening day. In the lead-up, our team has been on site for the past two weeks getting familiar with the venue and refining processes. These moments have been about preparation, coordination, and making sure everything runs as it should.

It’s the kind of groundwork that sits behind every major event - steady, detailed, and led by experienced people.
