⚽ Today it is Neville D’Souza Football Ground. Tomorrow it could be another playground, another open space, another place where our children gather.
Named after Indian football legend Neville D’Souza, who created history at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics, this Bandra ground has been a place where generations of children have played, trained, and dreamed of a future in football.
In this conversation, we speak with Karen D’Mello, BMC Corporator, about why this ground matters to the Bandra community, the importance of protecting open spaces, and why citizens must continue to raise their voices when spaces that serve the community are at risk.
Mumbai is growing rapidly. Buildings are rising, neighbourhoods are becoming denser, and open spaces are becoming increasingly valuable.
Protecting Neville D’Souza Football Ground is not only about football. It is about protecting every playground, every green space, and every place where our children can grow.
