A role has opened in my team at Auckland Council - Apiha Whakaae Kaupapa / Permit Processing. Please share far and wide.

Venture inside events, filming, hāngī, and other business engagements for the Tūpuna Maunga Authority. A part-time role, it is responsible for processing applications for activity on the Tūpuna Maunga.

This role works within the communications and engagement team and is a key support role in events and activations. It also assists the Manager with logistics, data processing, information processing, and internal scheduling.

This role requires autonomy and initiative. It also requires someone who loves the finer details and can support a busy, hardworking team.

I started at university at 18 wanting to be an educational psychologist. Listening to Moana Maniopoto’s show, tonight, another great kōrero, it is liberating to hear that Donna Awatere Huata studied and started as an Educational Psychologist.

It is liberating to hear, that Moana wanted to be an Educational Psychologist like her, but due to circumstances she turned to training to be a lawyer and, by divine intervention a great singer and lyricist. This is also where my journey is different too, from my beginnings.

What do we mean when we say 'Outsourced Communications'?

As an example of this communication service we provide, we work closely with Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Kuia Trust, assisting them with outsourced communications management services.

This requires us to support the whole team with their communication needs, manage multiple streams of work, and lead communication-centered projects. No two days are the same, it’s dynamic and fulfilling.

One of the most exceptional elements of our work together is that we’ve been able to activate and embrace a unique working arrangement. While we love to travel to the South Island to work side by side with the team and their most valuable taonga, their people, we also know we can deliver outstanding services for the Trust by championing a strong digital and remote interface too.

Something I was able to do over lockdown, but it looks like I wasn’t the only one with the idea, it seems some friendly trolls have taken over the park!
