Seeka Waipapa has been completed and ready to hand over to the client to start on time for the Kiwi fruit season.
This build certainly had its challenges, which ultimately gave myself a huge reality check, especially when it came to attempting to maximise local Resources which included Subcontractors, Suppliers, Employees and Training providers.
T&K experienced both highs and lows on this project, which has slightly changed our vision moving forward, especially in the space of Site Works, Development and Re - Integration of Mauhere back into the workforce.
It was disappointing that the new recruits that were hired locally via service providers didn't work out. We experienced theft, unreliability and lack of cooperation.
The reality and huge realisation that I learnt was that they were prematurely pushed through pastoral care via MSD & Trades Training, preventing them to give this Oppertunity a decent shot.
The highlights were that I built strong relationships with some key people in local Communities, Schools and Companies.

T&K Solutions played a big part in developing an initiative alongside Bay Of Islands College and Massey High School Trades Academy.
2 Students from BOIC Students will be attending MHS Trades Academy completing a Level 3 Building Qualification, with the vision of returning to the Bay Of Islands to complete a building apprenticeship with a local builder.
The students will still be registered to BOIC and will be living in Auckland fully funded.

Volunteered at my boys kura this afternoon, to lead a group of 5 Tamariki through group activities.
Props to those who have chosen a career to nurture and teach our babies.
I will stand by you protesting for more money, as my little experience this afternoon has done my head in 😂😂😂
6 year old Japanese boy in my group buzzed out I could speak a little japanese 🎎🎏
My boys topped my wairua up today.

An Update on my Tauira from:

Ara Auckland Airport Jobs and Skills Hub & Manurewa High School.

There is nothing more rewarding then witnessing those light bulb moments, that my tauira have when sharing lessons.
Today we have planned another inspiration day , to give them an opportunity to be exposed to high level conversations with my network of key industry leaders.

Kaupapa: To expose my Tauira to high level conversations in the board room.

Purpose:
1. Inspire my Tauira to strive for excellence
2. Witness that Management are not a threat, and are there shaping the future for our next generation.

Today's Agenda

1130 - 1230 The Southern Initiative MPTT
1330 - 1400 Massey High Trades Academy
1415 - 1430 Quick visit at Te Piringatahi Marae.

This was inspired by my own journey, where many of my previous Leaders shared insights and lessons that shaped my future.
Many times outside of work hours, and was not part of their job descriptions.

My vision for the future of Hato Petera seems to be lost, however I have been very impressed with the mahi that Massey High School has been doing with their years 11 to 13 students. I was taken around their Trades Academy which is exactly what I was thinking for Hato Petera.
I believe that engaging with those students through collaboration and linking it back to culture, you won't fail.
One door closes, another one opens.

Very proud of my ARA students from Manurewa High School.
I have been mentoring them for 7 weeks, and boy has their confidence grown!
I took them up to meet whanau at Ihumatao a few weeks ago, to show them the other side of construction. Meaning when working near Māori Landmarks, it is important to engage with Manawhenua.
These boys were church mice week one, now confident & cheeky! My fault 🤣🤣

They said they are happy to share their experiences with adults, but not their peers!?
