The 2026 Golden Shears competition unveiled a vibrant flock of sheep at the north entrance to Masterton. Celebrating the international shearing community, ‘Flock of Champions’ reflects the town’s proud rural heritage and home of the Golden Shears.

Dan has worked for 3 years in a design consultancy based in Ireland after graduating from TUDublin with a degree in Product Design. Dan thrives on innovation projects allowing clients to grow through considered and collaborative design solutions. When he isn't designing you will find him on the water or on his bike.

Earlier this week, the University of Auckland’s Newmarket Innovation Precinct (NIP) hosted a fantastic student engagement session in collaboration with the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) and the Centre for Advanced Materials Manufacturing and Design (CAMMD).

A big thank you to Arash Honaryar and Amirali Amirian from CAMMD for sharing insights into their PhD research journeys and how their skills translated into real-world impact through internships with NIP companies.

Graham and Upesh also delivered an engaging presentation on Procreate’s product design process, walking through some of our past work and wrapping up with a thoughtful Q&A session.

One insight from Graham hit home during the Q&A: Great teams can make average products succeed, but even great products can fail without the right team.

A powerful reminder that innovation is ultimately about people.

It was a privilege to contribute and give back, even in a small way, to the future of our industry here in New Zealand.

Procreate are proud to see the Flock of Champions public art installation unveiled in Masterton to kick off the 2026 Golden Shears sheep shearing and Woolhandling Championship.
The group of sheep sculptures have been painted by local Masterton artists to celebrate the diverse nations competing at the event.

Procreate worked closely with Masterton Trust Lands Trust to design the geometric fiberglass sheep canvases that were then produced by Bootleg design.

The team has enjoyed working on this project and are thrilled to see the sheep bought to life by the atrists and how out in the open for everyone to enjoy.

We really appreciate the visit from Samson yesterday — the team enjoyed having you in and loved the deep dive into AM and SLA.

It’s always energising to get fresh perspective from someone who’s right at the forefront of the tech. Sessions like this help us keep sharpening our process and exploring new ways to prototype smarter and faster. We are already applying some of the insights shared from Samsons experience to hone our printing processes and look forward to pushing our capabilities even further.

Cool to see the NZ designed and made products helping out with Auckland's current biosecurity fight against the Deadly yellow-legged hornet. Procreate worked with Hawkeye Home and Garden Products and Renovo previously to design the Wasp Lure Trap to be highly attractive to wasps and easy for users to maintain.

One of the many benefits of our new studio space has been having the space to expand the scale of our in-house 3D printing operation. The additional FDM and SLA resin machines on site allow the team to produce parts without the delay of working with external suppliers. For clients this means more responsive and frequent prototyping during the design process with printers suited to a range of required outcomes from ready to paint fine finishes and tiny details all the way to large fast prints for verifying the fit of existing components.

We are now also able to open up our 3D printing service to new clients. Whether you simply want a hand producing parts of your own design or want the full design process - Procreate can give life to your ideas.

A process engineer turned professional triathlete, Jack brings eight years of elite performance experience back to the engineering world. In his previous Engineering positions Jack has spent time at Fisher and Paykel and Jaguar in the UK. He thrives on efficiency, innovation, and pushing boundaries—whether in design or sport.

Recently dedicated members of the Procreate team undertook an important international out of office research project in order to thoroughly catalog and analyse parking metres of the world. This body of work will inform a host of current and future projects and is something the team can be truly proud of.
