Another successful job for New Zealand with this Mangawhai Show Home sealed with AeroBarrier for Platinum Homes Homes.
The project achieved a 77.9% reduction in envelope leakage and an impressive 0.86 ACH@50 - again below the required airtightness target.

AeroBarrier provides a simple, low-cost pathway to reliable airtightness. Airtightness is achieved and verified during sealing, reducing complexity and risk compared to traditional methods.

Simple – Applied to standard construction systems and processes
Low cost – Typically up to four times less than traditional approaches
Low risk – Airtightness certificate provided once target achieved
Better performance – Better energy efficiency, indoor air quality and cavity moisture management

How does AeroBarrier work?
AeroBarrier is an interior applied air sealing system that seals building envelope leaks up to 12mm. The waterborne sealant is aerosolised and injected into a pressurised home. The sealant is then self-guided to the edges of visible and invisible leaks to create a seal by accumulating across the leak surface. The sealant is applied within 60-90 minutes and dries quickly, before the system clean-up is complete. This ensures construction can resume shortly after with little to no impact on standard construction schedules. The AeroBarrier system measures envelope leakage in real-time, enabling the system to dial-in specific air leakage requirements with precision and consistent results.

Aero has successfully completed the first of 20 AeroBarrier seals at St Andrews Village for Savory Construction.

Designed by Chow:Hill Architects, the project achieved a 79.1% reduction in envelope leakage and an outstanding 0.60 ACH@50 — significantly better than the required airtightness target.
This level of airtightness is a key contributor to the ECCHO modelling being undertaken by The Building Excellent Group to support NZGBC Homestar 6 certification.

A fantastic result and a great collaborative effort from everyone involved.

Airtightness should not be guesswork.

AeroBarrier seals the building envelope and verifies the result during installation. Builders receive a certified airtightness result showing the final ACH performance.

That means:
• reduced moisture risk
• continuous fresh air
• measurable results for your clients

Builders can confidently deliver higher performance homes without redesigning how they build.

Controlling Roof Space Condensation

Roof space condensation happens when warm, moist air leaks from the house into the roof cavity through gaps in the ceiling and walls.

Trying to ventilate the roof space after the moisture gets there is often too late. The better solution is to stop moist air getting into the roof space in the first place.

By making the building envelope airtight and using mechanical ventilation to remove moisture directly outside, homes stay drier and more durable. Airtightness is certified as part of the AeroBarrier process, giving builders confidence the envelope is performing properly.

When a home is properly sealed, air moves where it should.

Inside the home. Not through the walls and roof. This means:

• warm air stays inside
• moist air stays outside
• constant fresh air

AeroBarrier seals the building envelope from the inside.

It closes hidden leakage paths across the house.

Builders can deliver higher performance homes without changing their build system.

Many builders are seeing mould complaints soon after handover.

The cause is often hidden. Warm indoor air leaks into the roof space and wall cavities. When that moist air meets cooler surfaces, condensation forms. Over time this leads to:

• mould in roof spaces
• damp wall cavities
• timber rot
• expensive call backs

This issue is becoming common in new builds across New Zealand.
Venting the moist air from the roof space is not addressing the issue.
Stopping moist air entering the cavity is the real solution.

Homes perform best when air is controlled. Energytight™ improves air control by combining airtightness with proper ventilation, so fresh air enters and leaves the home deliberately — not through random gaps and leaks.
This controlled airflow manages indoor moisture, reduces condensation and mould risk, and maintains more stable temperatures. The result is a home that feels fresher, more comfortable, and healthier every day.
Energytight™ turns better living into the default, not the exception.

We recently partnered with Cleven Electrical and to host our Build Better Homes That Sell Faster event in Pukekohe, bringing together builders, group home builders, engineers, and trades to explore smarter ways to deliver healthier, more energy efficient homes in New Zealand.

Aero Solutions co-founder Chris Caiger shared why air-tightness is becoming one of the most important design strategies in modern residential construction, followed by insights from Brittney Viljoen from SIMX on the role balanced ventilation plays in protecting homes from moisture and condensation.

Guests also got to see a live installation demonstration from our Aero installation team, showing exactly how the solution is applied in real-world builds.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us, and to Cleven Electrical and Simx for helping make it happen.
