Greve Vineyard

Greve Vineyard Greve Vineyard We were a small "boutique" 1.5 hectare vineyard, overlooking Omaha, Little Barrier Island, and the outer Hauraki Gulf.

We were only a short distance from the Village of Matakana with it's delightful markets cafes and restaurants. Our first harvest was in the Autumn of 2006, a small quantity of Cabernet Franc and a little Merlot from Greve were incorporated in the first bottles of the Omaha Bay Bordeaux style red which was bottled in March 2007. The 2009 and 2010 vintages are predominantly made from Greve grapes wi

th a little Malbec from Omaha Bay. The 2010 vintage was great with fantastic quality grapes from the amazing summer we had in 2009/10. Greve (Pronounced GRAY-VAY) is named after Greve in Chianti, in Tuscany, Italy - a European "Slow Village" 20km south of Florence on the way to Siena. We had the honour of spending a month there in 1999, when we explored every inch of Chianti and the Tuscany region. It was one of the highlights of our lives and we remembed it fondly in the name of our vineyard. We sold the vineyard after the 2013 harvest and some wine is still available, give us a phone call.
