Sigmoid Consulting Group is an Asia Pacific consulting firm that excels in helping leaders and their organisations evolve, grow and transform using a variety of strategies, tools and coaching. Experts in holistic change management, we believe that your journey in life-the story of your life and organisation, can be told using the metaphor that is the sigmoid curve. The sigmoid curve is derived fro

m the sigmoid function, an algebraic formula that shows how every growth curve will eventually plateau unless you interrupt its cycle. Change is therefore inevitable, and the paradox for us in business is predicting the optimal time to interrupt a growth curve before it reaches its peak. This can prove difficult when we often find it counter-intuitive to change something when it seems to be working successfully. Sigmoid discovered that the ability to anticipate change or make it happen before performance drops is the key to maintaining momentum in teams, organisations and personal lives. The basic premise behind the sigmoid curve is that nothing grows forever in its current structure. Structure in this instance is defined as a set of assumptions of which we base all changes on, whether in our personal lives or in an organisation. These assumptions are vital to identify and understand to make significant changes across all arenas of life and business. Assumptions tend to have a lifespan of approximately 18 months before rendered precarious or invalid, this time frame however, is predicted to compress into even shorter periods over the years to come. This means we should try building capability in ourselves and our teams to anticipate the future and be ready to proactively lead incremental changes necessary to maintain momentum with business models. Sigmoid offer a variety of services for organisations to build ability and predict change, acting accordingly for ensured success. Sigmoid Services

Six elements of effective listening cover page4
Have you ever walked away from a conversation wondering how it could have turned out so badly? You started with the best intentions. To listen. And then everything seemed to unravel. Worst yet, you later learn that you have a reputation as a poor listener. If you want to communicate better, it may be time to do a re-frame on what it means to really listen to someone.

You’ll never be a good listener if you have nothing to learn from another person….or from the team. When people engage with you in conversation, do they experience someone who is open or closed? Helpful or unhelpful? To be a better teammate, you don’t want to leave these questions to chance. Learning how to listen more effectively will lift your capability and confidence as a leader. For a team, effective listening will lead to better decisions and strong results. This book introduces six ways to listen:

1. Listening with compassion,
2. Listening to reflect
3. Listening for assumptions,
4. Listening as the contrarian
5. Listening for balance
6. Listening for the system

Strong leaders know which listing style is needed, and when. It pays to know the difference.
