🤝 Connections That Make a Difference 💙

A great afternoon of networking and community impact at our latest Networking & Nibbles last week Thursday, hosted by Hearts & Minds.

Members heard from Brenden Rolston, who shared how the charity supports mental wellbeing across the North Shore, Rodney and Waitematā, helping around 15,000 people each year access the support they need.

One powerful example of the value of connection came from Brenden himself: "Our team attended a BNH networking event a few months ago and spoke about our goal of fundraising for a consultation room. Through the relationships built at that event, all the funding came together. It really shows the power of networking and what can happen when businesses connect."

The afternoon also featured Business North Harbour's popular 60-second-quick-fire member introductions, with Jacqui Cheal from Marsden Suites Albany , Riz Khan from DFK Orb360 O'Halloran Chartered Accountants and Sateki Raass from Pasifika Consulting Limited sharing quick insights into their businesses.

Thank you to Hearts & Minds NZ and all members who joined us for an inspiring afternoon of meaningful conversations, new connections, and a reminder that strong business networks help build stronger communities. 💙

🥫The Shore Winter Food Drive

A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the Shore Winter Food Drive so far!

The coordination of Auckland Church Network has brought together, businesses, organisations and residents to help collect much-needed pantry staples, personal care products and household items for KiwiHarvest to redistribute to whānau and individuals doing it tough this winter.

Business North Harbour was proud to be part of this community effort, serving as a drop-off point and helping support the incredible work KiwiHarvest does to rescue good food, reduce waste and get essential items where they are needed most.

💼 ACC Levy Changes: What Businesses Need to Know

From 1 April 2026, ACC introduced updates to Work levies to keep the system fair and sustainable. All businesses in New Zealand pay a Work levy, and these changes may affect how you plan and manage payments.

Key updates include:
• Instalment plans – Interest now applies to all new instalment plans, and late payment interest rates have changed.
• Self employed & small business – Changes are coming for those in the No Claims Discount programme and people working in the sports sector.
• Medium & large business – If you’re part of the Experience Rating programme, there are important updates you’ll need to understand.

These changes support long term sustainability and ensure businesses continue to receive fair, consistent levy assessments.
