A quick rinse can help keep recyclable packaging clean and ready for processing. Phoenix accepts aluminium and steel cans, foil and other eligible metallic packaging, including some items that may not be accepted in kerbside collections. 🥫

Please check that packaging is empty and free of food residue before recycling it. 💧

♻️ Reusable Wednesday

Reusable Wednesday is about choosing items we can use again instead of reaching for single-use alternatives. Reusing products helps reduce the need for new materials and cuts down on waste. 🔁

💧 Choosing a reusable stainless steel drink bottle over single-use plastic bottles is one simple swap that can make a difference. Stainless steel is durable, long-lasting and recyclable at the end of its life, making it a great option for reducing single-use waste.

At Phoenix, we help keep resources in circulation by recovering metal from everyday items and larger industrial materials. Recycling gives these materials another chance to be used in new items and infrastructure. 🌱

♻️ Recycling Week 2026 starts on 19 October!

Running from 19 to 25 October, this annual campaign encourages Aotearoa to rethink waste and make better choices about what we buy, use and dispose of. This year’s theme, “Identifying Opportunities”, is a reminder to look for practical ways to reduce waste and keep resources in use. 🌱

🛒 Procurement Monday is a chance to think about what we buy and what happens to it throughout its life. Could it be reused, repaired or recycled? And when purchasing your next gadget, ask yourself: does it really need a battery?

🔩 Metal recycling is an important part of that picture. Steel, aluminium and copper can be recycled again and again, helping conserve natural resources and reduce the energy and emissions associated with producing new metal.

🚲 From bicycles and vehicles to construction offcuts, recycling metal helps keep valuable resources in circulation. Small choices at home and at work can all help reduce waste. 🌍

🔋 767 kg of batteries diverted from landfill!

A fantastic first year result for Manawatū District Council’s household battery recycling programme, with local residents recycling an impressive 767 kg of batteries through community collection points.

Phoenix Recycling Group is proud to support the programme, collecting and processing the batteries to ensure they are safely recycled through approved downstream pathways.

Every battery kept out of landfill helps recover valuable materials while reducing the environmental and fire risks associated with incorrect battery disposal.

🛡️ Look what’s been doing the rounds in Northland today! 💙🏉

There’s been plenty to celebrate around our Kerikeri and Waipapa teams following the Taniwha’s incredible 36–12 victory over Canterbury last night to bring the Ranfurly Shield back to Northland.

And it turns out we have our own special connection to the Taniwha!

Derek, one of our truck drivers from our Kamo yard, is a former Taniwha mascot and still has this brilliant replica Shield. Naturally, after last night’s historic win, it had to come out for a victory lap, with Phoenix team members and customers getting in on the celebrations. 😄🛡️

It was a huge night for Northland rugby, with the Taniwha recording their first win over Canterbury in 27 years and their first win in Christchurch in 39 years.

Safe to say there are a few happy Northlanders around today!

Congratulations Taniwha. The Shield is coming home! 💙🙌
