Many people wonder what to do if you see someone sleeping rough. Say hello if it feels right. Ask if they'd like a hot drink or something to eat. Don't take photos. If someone looks unwell or in danger, call 111. You can also let us know at Merge Cafe: we can follow up with a peer outreach worker who might have walked that road themselves. There's hope in human kindness and care for those who are rebuilding.

As we head into the long weekend, make time to catch several exhibitions closing this Saturday across the Karangahape Art District.

Don’t miss Rangi Kipa at Melanie Roger Gallery ; ‘Rokc the Moon’ by Reece King, Peter Hawkesby and Tyronne Te Waa at Anna Miles Gallery; ‘Permission to Stay’ by Leitu Taulisi at Moat Gallery; ‘Ka Kukuti’ by Robyn Stewart and Tui Hirabayashi at HAUMI E STUDIOS; and two exhibitions at RM.

Midweek, join Coastal Signs on Wednesday evening for the opening of Ruth Buchanan’s new solo presentation, ‘Housekeeping’.

Then, on Saturday, head to Artspace Aotearoa for a tour of ‘Group Admits Mistake’ with exhibiting artists Ken Faber, Lolani Dalosa and Rangi White, alongside Kaiāwhina Whakaaturanga Assistant Curator Matthew Hanson.
The artists will share insights into their creative processes and the evolution of their works over the past year, shaped by studio visits, research trips, mentor exchanges and ongoing experimentation as part of the Chartwell Trust New Commissions programme. And if you missed it, tune in to 95bFM’s ‘Various Artists’ to listen back to a kōrero between Maya Reed and artist Robyn Stewart about her work at HAUMI E STUDIOS.

We're lucky number 13-days away from FREAK OUT 2026.

Last year the road was crawling with all sorts of creatures - did you just see the IRL p**p emoji and the drop dead gorgeous devil outside the train station?! YUP thats the energy we need this year ya'll.

Sometimes the world is serious and actually scary, so why not express yourself through costume and get a little freaky with it with your friends. Make sure you dance folks!

Time to FREAK OUT kids! Karangahape Road brings you lots of treats (and maybe a few tricks) on Saturday 31st of October.

From 4:30pm, you can find 12 trick-or-treat spots at some of your fave locations along the road. Look out for the stickers at each location and follow the map to trick them...*cough*...tick them all off 🤭

We know all you lil monsters out there will bring your most creative & crafty costumes, so at 5:30pm the Mini Monster Costume Awards will take place.

You could win some spooky slices thanks to our pals Sal's Authentic New York Pizza 🍕

Ok now don't freak out too much but we have to tell you about the free Halloween Kids Rave :0 show off ya best moves e tamariki mā in Beresford Square until 6:30pm!

Instead of our usual programming this weekend, we're bringing you a road-wide market day across Karangahape Road to highlight the local goodies!

Happening this Saturday 17th October from 9am. Catch the train or walk into the day & make sure ya bring a bag ☆

Beginning with the newly established Karangahape Farmers Market Karangahape Farmers Market
Pick up your fresh produce, receive some bespoke poetry and gently begin your day ♡

From 10am, pop across to the Crushes Car Boot Sale 𝐂𝐑𝐔𝐒𝐇𝐄𝐒 and start prepping for summer. Sparkle up people!

Probably bit peckish by then eh? Cocos Coco’s Cantina Dining Room & Bar can sort you out with a yummy feed while you sift through records and vintage goods.

As always, music will guide you down the road to Ink and Indie Ink and Indie downstairs at Whammy Bar / Double Whammy / Public Bar til 3pm. Time for some flash & a cute trinket? Not to be missed.

Continue the arvo with a bevvy and a snack at one of your fave local spots, or maybe you'll jump back on the train for a well deserved rest...zzz°°°••

THE FREAK OUT DOG PARADE IS BACK. 🐾
This Halloween, our four-legged freaks are taking over the street, with the fabulous Suzanne Paul and Chris Parker judging the chaos.
Expect costumes, characters and some seriously good dogs.

Halloween on K Road kicks off from 4.30pm on Saturday 31 October, with a whole lot of spooky mischief for the whole family 👻
