Things We Find In Auckland’s Drains. 👀

This one looks like someone emptied the contents of a fish bowl down the pipe.

Small rocks and aggregate sitting right through the drain, restricting the flow and giving the camera plenty to look at.

Another day, another thing we definitely weren’t expecting to find underground. 😂

Many Auckland homeowners do not know where their private stormwater drain is, how it connects to the council network, or who is responsible for maintaining it.

Private stormwater drains on your property are your responsibility. The council manages public stormwater drains but sometimes those cross private land. If you are unsure, a CCTV drain survey can map your underground drainage layout completely.

Knowledge is protection. Know what is under your property.

3 Auckland-specific drain problems we find on camera constantly.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝟏, 𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐞 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧, Auckland's mature urban trees are relentless, especially in older suburbs.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝟐, 𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐲 𝐩𝐢𝐩𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, many Auckland homes built before the 1980s have clay pipes that crack and shift over time.

𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐥𝐞𝐦 𝟑, 𝐟𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝𝐮𝐩, commercial properties especially, years of buildup narrows the pipe until nothing gets through.

All three are findable on CCTV. All three are fixable once you know what you are dealing with.

THINGS WE FIND IN AUCKLAND'S DRAINS 🎱

This one had us doing a double take.

A pool ball. Fully intact, sitting in the middle of a stormwater line like it had every right to be there.

Somewhere in Auckland, someone's pool game is missing a ball. 🎱😂

Most Auckland homeowners answer A. Completely normal, but regular inspections catch problems before they become expensive emergencies.

20 years ago we started with one goal, find the problem without unnecessary digging.
Today that is still exactly what we do, just with better technology and a lot more Auckland drains under our belt.

Two decades means we have seen almost everything underground in Auckland. Tree roots, collapsed pipes, offset joints, concrete buildup, grease blockages, the odd dinosaur toy. We have found it all on camera.

Experience matters when you are dealing with something you cannot see.

Another month, another lot of drains checked. 🎥

We've been out inspecting, locating problems and seeing plenty of interesting stuff underground.

You never quite know what the camera's going to find, but that's the point. Better to know what's there than guess.
