🌟 Another Big Win for Greenfire Accounting! 🌟

We’re proud to share that 96.04% of our clients’ tax returns for the year ended 31 March 2024 were filed on time! ✅📈
That’s not just a random number—it's a huge achievement, and the IRD even sent us a letter commending our performance.

💡 Did you know?
The IRD tracks Tax Agents' performance every year. To keep our Extension of Time (EOT)—which gives us until 31 March of the following year to file returns—we need to file at least 90% of all tax returns on time.

For comparison:
📆 Without a tax agent, you must file by 7 July 2025.
📆 With a tax agent (like us), you get until 31 March 2026.
If we lost our EOT? We’d have to file everything by July—which is just not doable. So yes, this matters a lot.
🧠 It takes careful planning, loads of follow-up, and working around our clients’ busy lives to make this happen. But here's what it means for you:

✔️ You get your refund (or at least know what you owe).

📢 Important Update: New Zealand Minimum Wage Increase from 1 April 2025

Employers, please take note—minimum wage rates in New Zealand are increasing!

🔹 Adult minimum wage: Increasing from $23.15 to $23.50 per hour
🔹 Starting-out & training minimum wage: Increasing from $18.52 to $18.80 per hour

All rates are before tax and any lawful deductions (e.g., PAYE tax, student loan repayments, child support).

What to do now
Take this opportunity to review your business processes, employment records, and systems:

✔ Check your payroll system – Ensure it’s updated and ready for the 1 April changes, whether manual or computer-based.
✔ Review your budgets and cashflow – The increase may impact costs such as ACC levies, KiwiSaver contributions, and holiday pay.
✔ Assess pay rates for skilled employees – Consider making adjustments from 1 April.
✔ Evaluate your pricing strategy – You may need to adjust pricing to accommodate wage changes.
