From 19–25 October, we're celebrating , making it easier to responsibly recycle your unwanted electronics with:

- Free e-waste drop-offs at our Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch sites, Monday–Friday
- 20% off e-waste boxes for the week

From old laptops and phones to cables, keyboards and other unwanted electronics, don't let your e-waste sit forgotten in that drawer, or end up in landfill.

Yesterday we welcomed a group of AUT Business School sustainability students to Echo for a behind-the-scenes look at what happens to technology when it reaches the end of its useful life.

Organised through the Sustainable Business Network, the visit gave students an opportunity to see circular economy principles in practice – from refurbishment and reuse through to secure data destruction, e-waste processing and material recovery.

We’re proud to be part of the SBN community and to have the opportunity to share some of what we’ve learned as we work towards creating a more circular future for technology in Aotearoa.

Thanks to the AUT students and team for spending the day with us, and to our Echo team for sharing their knowledge and showing the group around.

Samsung E-Days are back! ♻️

Together with Samsung New Zealand, we’re bringing six free community e-waste drop-off days to Auckland and Wellington across October and November. It’s an easy way to clear out unwanted electronics and make sure they’re responsibly recycled – at no cost.

Here’s where you can find us:

📍 Smales Farm, Auckland – Saturday 3 October
📍 First Presbyterian Church, Papakura – Saturday 17 October
📍 Eden Park, Auckland – Saturday 31 October
📍 QV House, Lower Hutt – Saturday 7 November

📍 HNRY Stadium, Wellington – Saturday 28 November

Last year, the Samsung programme collected more than 76,000kg of e-waste, and we’re looking forward to building on that impact again in 2026.

Today is Zero Emissions Day - a reminder of the importance of reducing our impact on the planet and taking meaningful action towards a lower-emissions future. At Echo, we’re committed to making that action part of how we operate.

We are proud to be Climate Positive certified through Ekos. Since FY2024, Echo has undertaken an annual greenhouse gas inventory and independent verification process in accordance with international standards. Each financial year, we measure, verify, and offset 120% of our reported gross emissions through certified carbon credits, supporting nature-based and community-led projects that create positive environmental, social, and climate outcomes.

But climate action doesn’t stop at offsetting. We’re continuing to focus on reducing our emissions through initiatives such as transitioning to electric forklifts, using hybrid vehicles and improving operational efficiency across our business.

Our Climate Positive certification is an important milestone, but it’s also part of a much bigger journey, one focused on continuously reducing our impact and helping build a more sustainable Aotearoa.

Last Saturday, we wrapped up our final One New Zealand E-Day in Wellington, bringing an incredible six community events to a close across Auckland and Wellington.

Together, these events helped divert more than 40,000 kg of e-waste from landfill, giving unwanted electronics a second life through responsible recycling and recovery.

A huge thank you to the ONE NZ team and everyone who came along and helped make each E-Day such a success.

What happens to your technology when it leaves your business? 💻

For organisations managing large volumes of IT equipment, responsible disposal is about much more than simply removing unwanted devices. At Echo, our IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) service provides a secure and transparent pathway for technology at the end of its use within an organisation.

From collection and asset tracking through to secure data management, testing, refurbishment and remarketing, every device is managed with security, traceability and circularity in mind.

Where technology still has useful life, our priority is to keep it in circulation for longer. Where it doesn’t, we ensure it moves through the appropriate recycling pathway.

Echo Christchurch is officially open! Today marks an exciting milestone for Echo, with our new Christchurch facility at 31 Canada Crescent, Hornby South now operational.

The opening significantly strengthens our South Island presence, giving businesses and communities greater access to local technology lifecycle solutions, including secure IT asset disposition, data destruction, e-waste recycling, collections and business drop-offs.

It also represents the next step in our South Island growth following Echo’s acquisition of E-Cycle’s South Island e-waste business earlier this year. We were proud to welcome E-Cycle’s South Island team into Echo, retaining valuable local knowledge and relationships while backing them with Echo’s broader infrastructure, services and national capability.

For us, this is about more than opening another facility. It’s an investment in the South Island and in making secure, responsible technology lifecycle management more accessible to organisations across the region. With established operations in Auckland and Wellington, and now Christchurch, we’re excited to keep building our nationwide capability and helping more New Zealand organisations keep technology in circulation for longer and e-waste out of landfill.
