I've always liked this neon light in ... It seems to describe the relocation process perfectly. The sea will be choppy, you'll be thrown around, green & seasick, and on the whim of forces, factors, people and decisions that are entirely out of your hands and your control. All you can do is accept what you're powerless over and hope for the best.
BUT, what you don't see when you're in the eye of the storm are the skills, the learning, the experiences that come with throwing your whole life in the air are EXACTLY what you need to build the life you want and yearn for in your new home.
Relocating changes you in ways you are totally unprepared for - it gives you a new sense of self that is anchored in your own ability to ride the waves, not through the identity of an accident of birth. It gives (and takes away) choices you've never been conscious of before - every single thing you do is intentional, and with purpose.
It is a bloody difficult journey, but it is also a hugely privileged one..... to arrive somewhere and create a life that aligns with what you truly want and need...... no amount of stormy seas could make that not worth it. I'll never take for granted the skilled sailor I am now, all because of moving to this beautiful place I now call home.
