It is unfortunate that the protest video has turned out to be all about hate towards Palestinians and some hate towards the Israelis when the focus is on the struggles of Migrant Workers and our indigenous Maori people.
I did not organise this protest so you will need to ask the Organisers what the purpose of the Palestinian flags were for.
My take on it is that it was not the appropriate place to have Palestinian flags as this was a Workers and Migrant protest.
It felt like a Pro- Palestinian protest.
There were way too many flags there which overshadowed the protest.
I also felt uncomfortable with the guy behind me waving that massive Palestinian flag in my face. What am I to do? Push him to the corner?
He has every right to be there, perhaps he has gone through some racial oppression. I go by the mantra, we do not judge someone until we have heard their story.
Regardless of how I think it is inappropriate to have the Palestinian flags there, so many angry people were cursing and spreading hate towards Palestinians.
Do we really need to do that? Thankfully the power of pressing delete is my friend. I will not tolerate hate speech on my page.
You can have an opinion but it crosses the line when it becomes degrading and vulgar especially when I am trying to spread peace.
My purpose was to turn up to support our young people, our indigenous Maori and our migrants.
Let me be clear, if it was a white Pakeha feminist community going through a social issue, I would be there as well.
If it was a white Pakeha rainbow community growing through social issues, I would be there too. I take my kids to our Rainbow community for their story telling sessions.
I grew up in foster homes with Asian, Pacific and European cultures so I do not see colour - only people and their intentions.
It is far deeper than racial tension what I am standing for, it is about helping humanity with human suffering whether in NZ or in the World.
My hope for New Zealanders is that we have peace in our country by being tolerant of each other no matter how we choose to live our personal life.
Everyone stays in their lane and all will be sweet!
Judge a person by their intentions and actions, not by their skin colour, religion, class or gender preferences.
Hence why I have a Peace Rally on the 25th October at 12 noon in Britomart Square to talk about uplifting our groups that face race, gender, class and religion discrimination.
I won't be marching, shouting and chanting. It is peaceful story telling about connecting people together. For people to share positive vibes!
And for those other groups that spread hate, I will be doing a series of videos to address the pain you must have to be that aggressive.
Until then, hope you find peace ✌️
