Mike Hurring Logging currently has an opportunity for an experienced mechanic to join our workshop crew.
Having been in the industry over 35 years with staff through out the lower South Island & a fleet of over 200 pieces of plant we have a steady flow of work.

Applicants will need to:
- Hold a Trade qualification or in training, with a good knowledge
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Strong health & safety work habits
- Skilled to work on a wide range of equipment including excavator based machines
- Have NZ citizenship
- Be able to pass a pre employment drug screening as well as ongoing random screening

Due to expanding operations, Mike Hurring Logging are looking to fill the following role based out of our Balclutha office.

Health & Safety Administrator

Key Responsibilities:
− Monitor and enforce health and safety policies and procedures on-site.
− Conduct regular safety audits and inspections to ensure compliance with industry regulations.
− Assist in the development and implementation of safety training programs.
− Maintain accurate records of health and safety activities and incidents.
− Act as a liaison between management, employees, and regulatory bodies regarding health and safety maters.
− Ensure the correct reporting of accidents, near misses, and safety concerns.
− Stay up-to-date with changes in health and safety legislation and best practices.

Key Requirements:
− Knowledge of health and safety administration (preferably in a logging, contracting, or similar industry).
− Strong understanding of health and safety regulations and compliance.
− Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
− Attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
− Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
− Valid driver’s license.
- Have New Zealand residency

Desirable Skills:
− Certificate or qualifications in Health & Safety Management.
− Experience with health and safety software or reporting tools.
− Literate in computer use including Excel, Word, etc.

Jumping straight back into where we left off in 2025.

2026 is looking to be another jam packed one at MHL with local storm clean up our main focus, a crew in Nelson helping with clean up & our main stay crews & workshops still flat out.

With some exciting projects on the horizon & large amount of wood to get through we are also looking to expand & fill multiple roles including:

- Machine Operators - Forestry (Experience/Unit Stds Required)
- Hiab Log Truck Driver
- Class 5 Truck Driver

- Have NZ citizenship

Awesome to have Xshikarna Harvey take out the Woman in Forestry Excellence Award & Josh Harrison take out the Forestry Trainee of the Year Award.
